Question about Initial IDM-1731 Portable DVD Player with Screen
Does your normal TV have componet (rca)connections?
I use 2 sets of mini (3.5mm) plugs to rca cables to watch dvds on my TV.
1 mini plug for the audio L & R and 1 for the video (its the white rca that makes the connection for me.
Well if that works and you can watch dvds that way make it an addition to your home system.
I have a feeling it might cost as much to fix as it would to buy another for the portability factor.
Sorry I can't tell you what is causing your problem.
Did you check the video out switch - move it between the 2 positions a few times - maybe this will make a better connection at the switch or maye the switch itself is not moving internally.

Seems like no feasable solution here for this problem.
I mean how many times can one take out the battery, unplug, try different discs before getting annoyed and frustrated.
I barely used mine and when I finally got around to playing a DVD, no picture...oh yeah there is sound but no picture.
If you face the player upwards toward light you can slightly see the picture and movement, the DVDs work and the player is working as well...but this indicates that the backlight for the screen may be out. Perhaps a batteriy or something may be needed? I opened the part where the screen is and didn't know where to begin. I am at a point that if I break it I don't even care so it's worth the risk to figure out where the heck the battery for the light goes.
If the worse happens, I will just have to make this my new GIANT CD player because that seems the only thing it will be useful for.
I'll be back with any new developments
