What do you mean you 'placed container on all five knobs'?

Apart from that it sounds like you have a faulty lead, or the contacts inside the unit have short circuited. This is the only thing that could be causing a continuous circuit and tripping the fuse.

I would say you have shorted the pizo (sparkers) power input somehow. The unit will need to be dismantelled to see if this is the case, and I don't suggest this unless you have some experience, but it's up to you.

not sure where you are from, but plumbers will usually be able to fix this problem, unless it is the electrical supply, but this is unlikely.

Price - this is a bad time of year to get a tradesman, but you should be able to get someone, just don't use the biggest advertisement to find one, as they are the ones that charge the most, try finding someone small.

It depends on what has happened to know how much, but the tradesman you call should be able to help you. Once he can see what is wrong he can tell you what has to be replaced.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

I have a GE 36" Profile Gas Cooktop JGP963 and when i light one of the burners, it trips the GFCI , main breaker and a little fire ball comes from under the knob. what could cause this?

IT SOUNDS LIKE YOU HAVE A SHORT IN THE IGNITER. YOUR COOKTOP SHOULD BE ON A DEDICATED CIRCUIT AND NOT A GFCI. YOU MIGHT HAVE TWO CIRCUITS TIED INTO THE SAME RUN. POPPING THE GFCI AND THE MAIN BREAKER IS SUSPECT. THE GFCI SHOULD SHUT DOWN THE CIRCUIT WITHOUT POPPING THE MAIN. THIS IS PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE LOOKED AT BY AND ELECTRITION.

I have a GE JGP963 gas cooktop. When you turn the knob the igniters come on all the burners. The spark is good. This works on all knobs. But what happens is that it will not light. It appears there is no...

Hello, Is this a new unit? Is it still under warranty? Has it been recently worked on or converted to another type gas? I'd call the manufacturer (or the company that installed it) and have them send out a qualified technician to fix it. Are the burner flames a nice even blue color? Can you adjust the flames from high to simmer without them going out. If it was converted to another gas type, it's possible the wrong size orifices were put in or possibly that it needs to be converted because it is a natural gas unit that should be changed to propane, or vice-versa. Also be sure the appliance regulator was switched over to the correct type of gas. These are just a few ideas that come to mind. Let me know if any of these apply. Douglas

Viking gas cooktop vgsu161-6b sparks continuously. There is no gas leaking. I spilled water on the controls and it is only when I turn on the 3rd knob from the top that this happens.

The water that you spilled onto the cooktop has shorted out the ignition switch in the gas control knob. Don't worry though no permanent damage has been done. Leave it unplugged from the electrical outlet for a day or two until the liquid dries out. You can manually light the burners with matches or a BBQ lighter in the meantime. If you want to try and speed up the drying process you can use a hair dryer.

I use one of the large burners most of the time and the minimum setting(simmer or ?) seems to have increased over last 4-5 years so that I have to turn burner off and let food cool, then turn on again,...

I am not sure of this Model but most of the Gas Rail Cocks ( Taps) when you remove the knob you will find either a small hole drilled into the spindle This would be the Low Burner (simmer Rate) Adjustment there would be a small screwdriver requiredto do this , if its not there ,then there is usually a small screw on the side of the tap under the Knob Hope this will help you

GE Monogram ZGU48N6D- None of the Ignitors "click"

We just had that problem - the igniter is electric - if none of the burners are "clicking" it could be a power problem. unplug the stove and check whether the outlet is working. In our case, the outlet the stove is plugged into has a "GFI outlet with a reset button. So we reset the outlet and that fixed the problem.

Why do all 5 burners continue to spark with knobs off

One of 2 reasons - either you outlet is not properly grounded or there is a short in the range. This could be a shorted (bad) spark module, or one of the wires is shorted. All can be tested with a multimeter. Hope this helps!

Loud Pop, blown Breaker

Pull the unit away from the wall and inspect from rear. However, if all is fine, perhaps you simply overloaded the circuit that once. Were you running any other appliances (overhead microwave) at the same time?
