How to fix a starter on a 2006 Chrysler pacifica

Hello A. J. Arland,

Most folks find it more economically reasonable
to simply replace the starter...
(see below)

You can check VERY reasonable prices at ROCKAUTO.COM ..

It is important to note... Your STARTER MIGHT be fine...
Your SOLENOID could be causing the unit not to operate correctly...

There are multiple test procedure...
I am ASSUMING you have already performed... because your question is merely REPLACEMENT...

First... single and most important step...
DISCONNECT THE GROUND wire at the battery...!!

Remove wires from starter.
(always tag where the wires connect... perhaps even a picture).

Remove bolts from Starter...
(always track where the bolts come from)

Reverse above steps...

Happy motoring.

I need to replace starter motor in my 2000 Toyota Tundra 4.7 L V8. Do I need to remove the upper and lower plenum?

No you do not need to remove the plenums. The starter is removed and installed from underneath the truck of from within the wheel well if the wheel is removed. You should go buy a Haynes or Chilton repair manual for $20 they are indisposable to do it yourselfers and will give detailed step-by-step instructions with pictures.

Startup problems, at first no clicking or nothing 3rd time engine turned over but there was a high pitch wining i think from the starter itself pls help, Chef KB

It sounds like the starter solenoid has gone bad, Best thing to do is just to replace the whole starter. The starter solenoid is mounted on the starter, but to go through all that trouble to remove the starter, might as well replace the whole thing. Auto Zone carries the starter for your car and can give you the step by step instructions to get the job done with common tools. Good luck and when removing the old starter, take pictures with your cell phone to reference the wires when re-installing the new starter.

1998 Kia Sephia - replace the starter

To put it very simple, if you plan on keeping the vehicle for any real length of time, go to your local parts store and buy a manual. Haynes and Chilton make pretty good repair books. They have pictures, step by step instructions, safety tips, and generally, what tools are needed. A good book runs about $25.00. If you're gonna keep it, buy the book. There is no way anyone can answer you question in the proper details needed on this limited site.

Good Luck and check it out.

Help

Check out AutoZone.com. They have instructions for how to replace the starter. No pictures, unforunately, but fairly detailed step-by-step instructions.
