My hitachi plasma tele comes on and viewing is

my hitatchi plasma tele comes on and viewing is fine but for no reason the screen then goes black and nothing is visible on the screen but the sound is still there. sometimes it flickers back on and the picture comes back, it is not the scart connection as it happens right across the av channels and no television information comes visible on the screen once it blacks out. What could this be??
