Question about LG Prada KE850 Cellular Phone

1 Answer

Jpeg wont add to contact/2

Can't get a jpeg into 'contacts'. Photo opens fine when viewing but message 'not supported' shows when trying to add the photo to a contact. Photo and contact are saved to the phone, not the sim......
solution given by 'guest' suggests no signal .... why would I need a signal when performing an internal function on the phone? (I have a full signal strength anyway)...I simply want to move a pic from 'my stuff' to personalize a contact, so that it appears on the screen when they call me.  Please help, I can't get my head around why it won't work.

You might possibly have a point with the resizing issue; I will follow your advice and get back with some info for others who use photoshop or iphoto etc to crop and resize jpegs - hopefully.
I just wish the manual would suggest that problems could occur with this as, you yourself use the term, "might not" - we shouldn't be left in the dark about these things and there should at least be some technical info to help.  It is all a little odd as the phone itself is quite happy with the photo, both in slide show and changing from thumbnail to full screen...hmmm...thank you so much for your solvent reply though!

OK. This is my follow up message after looking into jpeg image sizing: Firstly, this should not be as difficult as it is proving! Secondly, no matter how I size this jpeg and resend to the phone, it will not assign to my contacts. (Other photos I have taken with the phone do assign). The jpeg and the contacts are all saved to the PHONE not the sim.

I have used photoshop, preview and iphoto to try different configurations including restricting the photo to standard display size - numerous and various attempts - no good. Is it a phone bluetooth glich? Is it an LG system glich?

Can I invite LG to comment please? This is a standard .jpg that has been resized in many different ways and which is now also lowered in quality to 20Kb as a final attempt to try to solve the issue. It also has no copyright protection.

Eureka!!! I didn't give up.  Ok people, here is the MAGIC NUMBER.

Make sure all your jpegs are saved sized: -

    640 x 480

The phone CANNOT ADAPT any other image size to the caller contacts list!

New problem though, the ring tone for that contact has now gone to back to a default one even though I had personalized it and my chosen ring tone appears in the list! Oh dear, I suppose I will have to trouble shoot that problem too now...

Make sure that the contact is stored on the phone, and not the sim card.( doesn't work if its on the sim). If you have contacts on the sim and copy them in the phone they double the name, so make sure you choose the phone stored one (there is an icon before the name that shows where that contact is stored). And finally, if still nothing, try to upload .jpg extension file, because the phone resizes the picture to add it to the contact profile, so it might not support .jpeg resizing. Hope you can make it work! :)

Contact picture ID

Its very simple, Prada only supports Jpeg images. Same thing happened to me when i bought this phone. Just make sure the wallpapers or pictures you are trying to upload are in Jpeg Format and it should be fine!

i contacted support with this same problem...i get the triangle with a ! in it.

they said the receiver is sending a resolution that isn't supported by the album. although you can still set the picture to a contact in your address book1.gif, go back to the text message4.gif and view it, or even us the file browser that you downloaded to view it. it just doesn't show up in the album correctly.

they didn't offer any fix to the issue.

Jpeg wont add to contact

just find a suitable software and resize your photos to 480x320 before downloading to phone. it seems prada can only support small size pics when added to contacts.

Photos wont open

There seems to be a corruption of file type between camera and computer The fact that the computer wont play mov. but the camera will if back loaded seems odd. JPEG files can and do go wonky if back loaded to camera after editing because essential info for the camera has been deleted. A JPEG file as produced by a camera is properly called an EXIF file because has has EXtendedINformation. Lose it and the camera wont know it. Like wise older PC's such Win 98 and older software don't know about EXIF so they chop it off So something like that is happening here. Check out Tech Support at Kodak see what they can tell you.
