Did you (or somebody else) re-install Windows on your computer?
If so, you (or they) may have wiped-out the "recovery partition".

Since you have a COMPAQ, contact them, and order a replacement set of "System Recovery" CD-ROMs. Re-install Windows (which will reinstate the "recovery" partition) from those disks.
