Using a scanjet 5370c with hp pavilion a375c originally installed with XP. Have trouble with the computer detecting the scanner. I used to be able to get it working by unplugging scanner power cable and usb and then replugging them. Sometimes it worked and sometimes it didnt. When it doesnt work I get the error message: "Sorry, scanner could not be initialized (Scanner not found)"
Determined to finally solve this intermittent problem I researched hp websites and various forums. Apparently many others have run into this condition and the problem has been addressed by hp as well as other techies. I tried the various tests, download patches, etc. that were supposed to fix the problem but none have worked. HP no longer supports this product on the web through either email or live chat. Does anybody have a definitive answer before I give up and sell the thing on ebay?

I'm trying to scan slides. I'm using a Mac 9.2.2, and an HP ScanJet Scanner that has an X-PA slide attachment. I have the attachment plugged into the right slot in the back of the scanner. My problem is when I click Scan, the light in the X-PA attachment goes off and the result is a dark image. What do I need to do to make it scan the slide, and not revert to regular scan mode? Thanks D
