Question about Maytag MMV5186A Microwave Oven
Having a problem taking out the light bulb, any suggestions?
First be sure to unplug the oven or open the circuit breaker.
Some bulbs are screw-in and some need to be pushed in slightly, then turned counter-clockwise.
Sometimes they get a little food grease or oxidation between the threads of the lamp and the socket.
You just have to be persistent. A slow but steady pressure is best, because too much pressure can break the bulb off in the socket.
While that then makes it easier to use pliers, there is the risk of a nasty cut. Gloves might help if it's really tight, or maybe a small piece of rubber strip to improve grip.
Before installing the new bulb, I recommend a thin layer of lubricant (WD-40, Vaseline, etc) to help prevent seizing in the future.
