Question about Dryers

Amana Electric Dryer; Model Number LE4607W

I have an Amana Electric Dryer, Model Number LE4607W. When I went to open the light flickered. It stopped in the middle of the drying cycle, and when I turned it on (with the knob) it made a loud grinding noise. Now, when you push the knob down, it makes a humming noise, but the drum does not turn. You can turn the drum manually in one direction. Is the problem with the belt, or the motor?

Thanks!

My Amana Electric Dryer Randomly stops working and it won't start up again , it can take up to an hour for it to work again. Model Number LE8407W2.

There are safety sensors that will break the current when it gets too hot or if the sensors themselves are failing. This will shut the dryer off or make it quit heating. After cooling down or at random times the sensor may make connection again allowing the dryer to work. These can only be checked out using an OHM meter and must be checked when they are not allowing the dryer to run.

Thermal Fuse

Item #2986 (OEM Part)
$10.70

Thermal fuse. If the dryer overheats, this device stops the flow of electricity to the heat source and/or the entire dryer. It is located on the blower housing and cannot be reset. The most common cause for overheating is a vent tube clogged with lint, a birds nest or other debris.

Dryer work turn on, buzzes when start is pushed

It may be just your timer switch. Look at all the wiring first. The receptacle to the plug, cord and into the back of the dryer.

Dryer does not turn on

Sounds like the motor relay is not functioning. Sometimes the motor will work if the button is pushed but will stop when the button is released. This is caused by a loose wire at the motor or a bad motor relay.
