Linksys EZXS16W Issue

I have the Linksys 16-port switch and am just planning on using it for local networking for network gaming with friends. When I plug it in, all of the lights light up and no matter how long I wait, they don't turn off. Also, when I plug in a PC, it doesn't detect anything at all. Is there some initial setup that i'm missing out on?

I don't want to use the internet with this switch. I only want it for local connection. None of the lights turn off once it is plugged into the wall. All of the activity lights etc are continually on and don't flicker or turn off.

Hi There, first of all you need to connect from your modem or router's port a link. Use a cat5 ethernet cable from the modem to the switch or if you also use a router from a port in back to the switch. Then when you plug in other computers it will see the internet connection. Good Luck...

Hi i am chinni working in a bpo company. i wanna configure dhcp network in my office. can any body helps me

Hi, by default the Linksys router is set to DHCP... So all you have to do is connect an ethernet cable from your modem to the WAN/Internet port of the router and then connect a PC to one of the ports, see if that will be able to connect to the Internet if not, try to do a power cycle (turned off everything and then turn on the modem first and wait for all the lights to be stable and turn on the router and then the PC) once the computer gets online you may connect the rest... should you require to connect more than 4 PCs, you may need to have a switch but with this setup the physical connection should be

Modem to WAN port of the Router to Switch port and all PC should be connected to the Switch's ports

I don't know if it's my linksys 5 port router or

Could be over heating let it cool meaning complete shut off unpluged 20 mins for all heat to removed. Then check how long it stays on. If it last more than a few mins it is over heating. You need to try to get all dust out of it and try it again. If this time the link is lost after a few mins or hours its was over heating. Also at this point it could be a bad component over heting and a new router is need.
This could be one of many problems good luck.

Where does the phone line go in the lynksys box.

Phone Line?

You need a cable or dsl modem to connect to the internet. From the modem you run an ethernet cable to the "broadband" or "Internet" port of your router.
Also make sure your lynksys is a router, not a switch

Hope this helps
