Quite a significant number of users are having the same problem and all sorts of ideas are being thrashed about. Some fixes seem extreme and others are lengthy. Working thru the issue so far I have found it is not a dvd driver issue and is not a bios setting issue or a faulty ide cable. I wish it was that easy. I am now leaning more towards it being an issue with the ide detection in the setup. First off make sure all your drivers are up-to-date for your motherboard especially the ide/ata drivers. I thought mine were but when I checked windows update it had them in there as optional downloads. I also used driver genius so I could refer to the drivers independently during windows 7 setup. However, it still FAILED. I am now thinking it could be because I am using a dual ide cable for my main hdd and dvd. I would seperate them so they run on independent cables but only have one ide slot on the motherboard. So I am going to have to install windows onto a raid/gigabyte driver and use the ide cable just for the dvd then give that a go. I am thinking it is this that is causing the error with windows 7 because I had a similar issue with installing vista with a motherboard that used raid/gigabyte hdds and it did not like it. We had to use a pci card and run the drives from that as vista would not detect them plugged into the mb. Hope this may help. Those error messages with ms are never as clear and obvious as they seem but I certainly would not go getting a new dvd drive thinking that will fix the problem because it could be the ide setup.
No need to instal driver windows wil see all type of cd cdrom writers
and readers i think you configuratie on start up from pc in the bios
are the option disable so start up pc and hit del or f2 or the keys
thad wil give you acces to bios google on the web for bios access
and select auto save bios and startup again
in the startup sreen wil appear hd,cd/dvd, memmory and all the settings from the motherboard if cd/dvd not display contrl cable and power from device
If you only have one player/recorder than you'll have to go to the manufacturers site and download the drivers and software from the "Support" section under "downloads". Thanks,Dana P.S. You may also use a flash drive.
