The washer is not pumping water into the chamber when it is turned on, the water inlet valve is open. Is the pump gone? can it be anything else, Please help.

The washer model is Maytag top load washer model MAH4000AWW and I found that they have a history of issues with the wax motor caused by a resistor and triac blowing on the control circuit, in fact this is a subject of a class acion law suit. I opened up my washer and indeed the R11 resistor is blowen, I am going to replace it and the Q6 triac and see if that takes care of the issue. Do you know if there is a service manual that tells you how to take the top cover off and the sides.

Thank you for getting back to me,

    Regards,

    Shmuel

If I understand this you seem to be having problems with the water valve. Please check each valve by selecting cold water and see if there is any water. Next do the same for hot. Also, need to know if any of the other cycles are working. There are several conditions that can cause the trouble you are having. Please list your model and serial number as this combination will tell us the manufacturer of your machine. Maytag did not manufacture all thier brand name units.

Yes, this machine does have a history. ( The class action suit does not pertain the the wax motor though. It pertains to the mold problems of the door and boot.)

What you are refering to (R-11) is used to control the wax motor at the door. This motor will have to be replaced or your repairs will mean nothing. Do you need instructions on how this is done?

IS THERE A BLOCKAGE IN THE PUMP OR THE MOTHER BOARD IS FAULTY

Maytag atlantis washer stops mid cycle

It is possible that the machine does not start off the cycle because there are errors due to feedback from the inputs. For the program to start up the main program controller must initiate the INLET/MOTOR/DRAIN pump/ valve to open up and allow each function to be driven starting from the flow of water into the drum as also the drain valve to open to exit the water at the point of the program cycle. If this does not happen then the voltage at the valve/motor/pump must be checked or the fault relates to no voltage from the controller. This means the controller is a suspect.

If the fault repeats all the time to stop after a said period then it can be a fault on the panel board. check also the power supply to the board, check power to the processor.

My frontload washer has stopped and the letters F and H are flashing in the digital cycle time window. What does this mean?

NO WATER DETECTED ENTERING MACHINE OR PRESSURE SWITCH TRIP NOT
DETECTED
If after 30 seconds the control does not detect water entering machine, the valves will be
turned off and the error code will be displayed.
OR
If the control has turned the water valves on, and after 8 minutes, the flow sensor has detected
10.5 gallons of water passing through it, but has not detected the pressure switch trip,
the valves will be turned off, and the error code will flash.
Press PAUSE/CANCEL twice to clear the display.
Possible Causes / Procedure
• If there is no water in the unit:
- Make sure that both valves at the water source(s) are turned on all the way.
- Check for plugged or kinked inlet hoses or plugged screens in the inlet valves.
- Verify inlet valve operation.
• If there is water in the unit:
- Verify drain pump operation.
- Verify that the pressure switch hose is in good condition and properly connected to tub
and pressure switch.
1. Verify there is not a siphon problem.
2. Unplug washer or disconnect power.
3. Verify wire harness connections to inlet valves, pressure switch, drain pump, flow meter,
and Central Control Unit (CCU).
4. Check all hoses for possible leaks.
5. Plug in washer or reconnect power.
6. Verify pressure switch operation.
7. Verify flow meter operation by blowing air through the part and measuring the resistance.
8. Verify CCU operation by running a Diagnostic test or any cycle.

Won't stop filling with water

Does the water continue to run when the washer is unplugged from power?  If it does, then there is something stuck in the inlet valve that is keeping it open.  Could be the result of mineral deposits.  If the water stops when unplugged then the water limit switch is defective.  Unlikely since the water still flows when control knob is in off position.

Cold water will not pump into washer but hot water does.

HI. i would check the water valve inlet screens and make sure that the wall outlet faucets are fully open. if the screens and the wall faucets are OK, this will confirm a water valve issue. you will need to replace the water valve assembly in this case.

Click here for your new water valve assembly.

Started washing machine; suddenly stopped drawing water

If you are certain there is water up to the inlet valve, and you can hear it humming, then there are 3 possible reasons.
  • The valve is not opening because it is stuck.Replace valve.
  • Check inlet of valve for a possible clogged filter, remove and clean.
  • Insuficient water pressure to open valve.
  • Plz rate my solution.
  • Thanks.

Water level will not stop at medium

You have a sticking water level switch caused by a blockage in the hose or pressure chamber, or a sticking inlet valve..
If it is a valve, then water would keep on coming in even though the washer is off, if this is the case, then fit new valve..
If it is the level switch you will have to unblock the hose and and chamber.
Hope this helps.

Washing machine wont fill

the humming noise is usually the inlet valve energised but no water there to come in. i appreciate you have checked. the other possibility is that the appliance has not pumped out completely and the noise you hear is the drain pump energised but stuck due to perhaps a foreign object in it. fault is unlikely to be inlet valve
