The washer is not pumping water into the chamber when it is turned on, the water inlet valve is open. Is the pump gone? can it be anything else, Please help.

The washer model is Maytag top load washer model MAH4000AWW and I found that they have a history of issues with the wax motor caused by a resistor and triac blowing on the control circuit, in fact this is a subject of a class acion law suit. I opened up my washer and indeed the R11 resistor is blowen, I am going to replace it and the Q6 triac and see if that takes care of the issue. Do you know if there is a service manual that tells you how to take the top cover off and the sides.
Thank you for getting back to me,
Regards,
Shmuel
If I understand this you seem to be having problems with the water valve. Please check each valve by selecting cold water and see if there is any water. Next do the same for hot. Also, need to know if any of the other cycles are working. There are several conditions that can cause the trouble you are having. Please list your model and serial number as this combination will tell us the manufacturer of your machine. Maytag did not manufacture all thier brand name units.

Yes, this machine does have a history. ( The class action suit does not pertain the the wax motor though. It pertains to the mold problems of the door and boot.)
What you are refering to (R-11) is used to control the wax motor at the door. This motor will have to be replaced or your repairs will mean nothing. Do you need instructions on how this is done?
