Phillips 50p8341 Projection tv no picture

Ok im pretty good with soldering and repairing electrical equipment but have absolutly no experiance with what can cause problems in a projection tv.
I have owned this tv since brand new never had any problems with it untill now 4-5 years later.. But first off the color and picture has had that green hue to it for quit some time and never really cared to look for a solution till now.. but thats not the problem im worried about

Problem : When i came home today i powered on my tv and got the Red Led power light has came on its sorta sounded like it was trying to turn on but failed to Fire up. So i started to check the problem. I opened the front of the tv took the screen off proceded to turn on and off then noticed that the Blue Light was not even lighting so i gave it a few taps and the light flickerd a bit. So then i proceeded to look around of course i turn the power off and unpluged. Well now i see that there was soo much dust in the bottom of the cabnet so i removed all the dust. Now i had shaken wires around hoping for a loose conector but no good. so i unscrew the main Bracket holding all 3 projectors and look underneth and i see the 3 bulbs wires etc . So i now want to see what happen when u turn on and when i do i see the green and red bulbs fire up but they did not fire up all the way meaning i have already seen it work for a few seconds when i tapped the blue projector all light got bright and could see picture then blue went out and i couldnet get it to come back on no mater what i did off on tap shake move wires etc. So now im at this point of saying what do i need to replace. Any help would be greatly appriciatted I still get power the red and green lenses are on but not really bright kinda looks like the bulb is warming up but never lighting. Now Is my blue bulb bad or some component ill try anything i would like to fix this tv.

Re: Phillips 50p8341 Projection tv no picture

Looks like the blue crt is bad and may have killed the main power board that has the high voltage supply.
A new crt is almost $400 and my distributer shows the power supply as no longer available, but may be able to get it somewhere else. Plus you need the service manual to realign and converge everything (hope you didn't mess this up too bad). Really need to find a good rear projection tech to do all this, but may not be worth it.

57H81 projection tv has very wiggly picture.

This is the Hyper Module that needs repaired. There are several small sm caps that dry out in this model. It's the module standing up to the right covered by a can as we call it. I really don.t recommend you trying to repair it. One slip and that module is done and you can't by a new or rebuilt one anymore. Please let a repair center look at it and do the work. You won't regret it.

Sounds like the blue convergence IC s bad. They are relatively easy to replace if you can solder they cost around 10.00 each and you should change both the red and the blue.

Your Red CRT may be on its way out. Try turning down the G2 screen control on the red CRT just a little. That should help for now. A new red tube wil be a reality in the future.

Blue screen with sound but nothing else!

I, too, acquired a Phillips without a manual and was experiencing a similar problem. My model is PTV 916, but if your TV has a "source select" button, say a prayer and press the button. From that point, I don't know what else I did, but I do get TV programs now.
