I got my i-touch for Christmas. It's been working with the wifi since then. Early this morning (about 1 AM) it suddenly stopped working. I've tried different DNS, IP addresses, etc. I've spent hours trying to figure out how to fix it, and I have no idea. Usually, I'm pretty good with technical stuff, but this is insane. Why won't it work? Why did it all of a sudden stop? When I say suddenly, that's exactly what I mean. It had just loaded the google page and justas it got done loading the "can't find server" message appeared.
Go to apple.com and press "Chat" button on the Left side. Then, you will be connected to an apple expert service operator in less than 30 seconds. ask him all the questions. He will most likely solve your problems. I hope this will solve your problems...
If you had a sudden disconnect from your Wi-Fi, the odds are that the Router had a hick up or a power glitch. Before you start just trying anything, go to apple.com/support and type in your problem and see what the How To articles tell you to do. If you have had the iPod less than a year, call them for telephone tech support. If not, you can pay them a one time fee of $29 and they will suss out your issue and work toward a resolution for you. You can get a manual online at apple.com/support/ipod. The one for the Touch is 147 pages, so they are downloaded as PDF file. Save and keep. You will find Wi-Fi connection there also.

Access the router usually by typing 'http://192.168.0.1' or 'http://www.routerlogin.com' in the address bar. 4. Login to the router with the Username as "admin" and Password as "password" (please note that the Username and Password are case sensitive).

I had exactly the same problem with a brand new 3rd gen iTouch. It showed it was connected to the network but wouldn't access anything (invalid argument etc). I tried everything but no joy. Eventually I fixed it by changing the router's encryption from WEP to WPA2-PSK. Fixed it like magic. Where there had been no router or DNA data before, they were suddenly filled in. The key was different but was still on the bottom of the router. I had to re-enter the key on my wireless laptop but that was a small price.
You can get into the router set-up page through your web browser. I found a guide on You Tube.
if you're router is in the B+G setting, try setting it to the B setting, this is because the wireless adapter in the i-phone/i-touch uses only the B setting, sucks for most part.. but that got my i-phone working like a charm.. hope this helps
