Question about Cyberhome CH-DVD 300 DVD Player

2 Answers

Resetting failed I probably set to a mode my tv doesn't support. So I tried resetting as explained in solution of this problem in the manual, but I still can't visualize the DVD image or setup menu, only sound. What can I do?

Sony DVP-CX995V Test Mode

Thought I could add a few suggestions for anyone else experiencing this issue.
1.The SLIDER AT THE TOP OF THE REMOTE MUST be in the DVD Position. The sequence will not work if remote slider is in Disc explorer mode or TV mode. It doesn't specify this in the service manual either.
2. Sometimes it just doesn't work the first couple times, so keep trying. For best results, do the sequence from about 5 feet away, pointing the remote at the receiver on the player (lower left), and slowly and firmly press each button, pausing 1/2 to 1 second between each button press works best for me.
3. Also, it could just be low batteries in the remote and If it still doesn't work and it is worth putting more $$ into try a new remote as suggested already.
Just my 2 cents probably worth noting for future visitors to this question.

Im getting a black and white output

I'm down to those last few ideas:

1. Your player has an NTSC mode that's not mentioned in the manual (would explain the black and white image), and somehow your son pressed the right buttons. Try a Google search on your model number and see if anyone else has posted instructions on how to change modes.

2. Your TV can interpret NTSC and PAL systems per input, and there's a menu setting to adjust it. (you can eleimante this possibility by connecting the player to a different TV)

3. The player is shot and it's time for a new one.

Locked out of the menue ,Need to reset command mode

Indeed, I did the same thing.... I did find the answer in the manual!
Here's a copy of it (pg 23):

Set the command mode for the remote so it matches
the command mode for the recorder you set above.
1 Hold down ENTER
2 While holding down ENTER, enter the
command mode code number using the
number buttons.
Command Mode Code number
DVD1 number button 1
DVD2 number button 2
DVD3 number button 3
3 Hold down both the number buttons and
ENTER at the same time for more than 3
4 Let up, press RETURN, all done!

Can't change the clock time

Best Solution posted Nov 6, 2008, by Guest -- worked for me. Wondering what the DST is? -- Daylight Savings Time. There will be a button at the bottom right in the date OFF. Apparently the TV Guide programing does not work that well, especially with the new Digital boxes now need to receive over the air TV and the TV Guide programing never worked with Satellite TV. Wil this feature ever be up dated? I doubt it. It would be nice to have the digital box and your dvr cycled together.

How do you turn off the progressive scan

I own this model and do have the manual; however, standard AV and S-Video connections do not transfer progressive scan video images. If you hookup a progressive scan output to a non-progressive scan TV input, you will not get an image, so it is probably the way you have your machine connected to your TV that is the problem. If you are trying to watch regular TV through your machine, you will probably need to use a standard Coaxial Cable. I hope this helps.

Video Issue

It sounds like you have the "progressive scan" mode enabled. This changes the order that the scan lines (each horizontal line) is sent to your TV. When this setting doesn't match what your TV expects, you get this effect.

Try this (with the original remote): Reset TV Guide On Screen
1. Press the TV Guide button
2. Curser up and over to the SETUP menu
3. Select Change system settings (highlight only)
4. Enter the following numbers … 753159852 (setup mode)
5. Enter the following numbers … 653274147 (reset mode)

It will take some time to get the guide downloaded, but it works.

No picture only sound

Try unplugging the set for a few hours. If that dosent work look in your owners manual on how to do a default reset or complete reset. Good Luck

Picture problems

Scrolling/black-and-white/"out of tracking" display on a DVD player is generally caused by the DVD player being switched into Progressive Scan mode on a TV not capable of viewing that content. Scan the remote for a button labeled Progressive, I/P, P.Scan, or anything similar. Scan the user manual for information on resetting this also. If the manual and remote come up dry, call Protron and see if there's a key combo you can hold to reset that. Often, holding Play for 5-10 seconds will reset to standard (Interlaced) mode, or holding Stop while turning the unit on. Sometimes, holding Display on the remote for a few seconds will also switch this setting. Good luck.
