My laptop screen has no display only black and then nothing

I updated my windows xp and then there is a warning that dont shut down it and nnfortunately I disconnected the power to the computer and then the when i switched it on it screen is black and there is no dislplay only the black screen

switch on the laptop...>press F8...>select last good known option. and check.... you can start with safe mode ..... if its not working reinstall the os.....
