Re: JVC camcorder problem

Still shots are stored on the card while movies are stored on the tape. You can transfer still images by placing the card in a media reader or by using a USB cable.

To transfer video you need a DV cable (not supplied with the camcorder). If you don't have a DV cable you can pick one up at BestBuy or most electronics stores.

In addition to the DV cable you also need software to transfer video. I understand Windows Movie Maker will work, but I use a product called Scenalzyer. You can download a free version of Scenalzyer at The demo copy is fully functional but will leave a "watermark" on your video. You have to pay for it in order to transfer without the watermark. I think this camcorder may have even come with some software, but I'm not sure.

Many computers will automatically recognize these cameras as soon as they're plugged in, but some will require you to load driver software.

Take a look at this website if you don't have your manual and software guide:

You can download the manuals in pdf format at the above link.

Lastly, I want you to know that I'm not paid to provide these suggestions. It's a strange hobby I know, but I just like to help when I can. If you found this information helpful I hope you will rate it positively. Over half the solutions I've posted have not been rated.

I lost the manual and CDs that came with my JVC Everio GZ-MG21U. Am trying to transfer my videos to my laptop using Windows Vista but won't accept it. I need to download the driver. Pls help.

You can download the manual from the manufacturer's web site at

You might want to consider NOT using a driver. The best way to download videos and pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy videos and pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any video/photo cataloging program, such as Windows Movie Maker and Windows Photo Gallery.

Can i use the memmory card to take a video image by using GR-D270

Yes, but keep in mind the capacity or size of the memory card. Most video recordings require a large size of memory. I recommend get getting at least a 2 Gig card for video shots.

How do i connect to the computer and also insert a compact and memory card ?

To connect to the computer you place the USB lead in the pc and the other end into the camcorder. The memory card should slot in underneath. Download a user manual.

You may try this camcorder recovery tool named asoftech data recovery which helped me before. You can download trial for free

Please be noted that your camcorder memory should show as a drive letter in your explorer, if not, you need to take out your memory card and connect using a card reader, or plug-in to card reader slot if there's any on your computer.

JVC Digi Video Camera GR-D270U

I had the same problem. Get an IEEE cable, about $24 at Radio Shack and download your movies to a FireWire card. Use of the USB port will only download stills, as far as I can tell. Good luck.

The memory card is strictly for still photos. The tape is strictly for video. Transferring video tot he PC requires a firewire card on your PC (for direct cable connection).

How to connect my jvc mini dv camcorder to my computer without the disc

you have not mentioned which model JVC camera you have bought, any ways, if it has with both memory card and minidv cassette facility, then you require a fire wire card to transfer cassette contents, and for stills on card insert the card to the slot and then connect it to the computer through USB cable, then the computer will recognise your camera.
