My sony kf we50s1 switchez off at certain times on its own we lost the manual an its only 5 yrs old....it will switch off an hold for about 5mins den u can turn it back on using remote sumtimes it will switch off every hour other times on the same day it would switch off every 20 mins....help

For Sony Model KF-60WE610, KF-50WE610, and KF-42WE610, the Diagnostic Code of power light indicator flashing 6 times green, then flashing 6 times red (6 red etc), means you need to replace part number A-1302-272A G1 BOARD, COMPLETE. See Sony Service Manual, 4. Chasis-1 at part Ref no. 103. The Power Board sits vertically in two slots on the left side of the electronics board. 4 wire connectors to remove when replacing. This component fits all 3 KF models listed above.

The KF-WS60A1 uses the same G2 board as does the KF-WE50S1 models with the LA3 chassis

Your lamp (back lighting) is burnt out and need replacement. The instructions are in your manual

There is no permanent fix for Sony's Rear Projection TV's. I have a KDF60XS955. I've had two optical engines go out. This an engineering problem. I refuse to pay for yet another engine as it cure the problem. I love the TV when it's working properly. I have tried working with Sony for a replacement to no avail. They want me to buy another one of their sets. I will have to buy another set but it won't be Sony they don't stand behind their products. I haven't had a full year of service out of this product since it was purchased. I have filed complaints with the FTC, my State Attorney Generals Office, Consumer Protection Agency.org, and joined the Robert Lax class action lawsuit.

Needs new lamp or the fan is out.

5 blinks code shows problem with Lamp Drive circuit (ballast supply) and / or Lamp itself.
How old is this TV and have you replaced lamp before?

I've had my Sony KF-50WE610 for approx. 4years now and have just experienced the prob you described (though I didn't think to count the number of red blinks). I called Sony TV technical support (888-772-7669, #3 for TV/digital cameras, #1 for TV, then #1 again I think). They said that if the power/standby light blinks 5x, that means there's something wrong with the lamp driver and service will be required. Needless to say, I better go home and count my red blinks!
