Very weak sound from ibm t42 thinkpad - internal and exteranl speakers

There are two ways to set the sound on an IBM thinkpad, hardware and software.
Hardware sound can be set via the speaker buttons below the screen. There should be three buttons: Mute, Volume Down, and Volume Up.
Software sound can be set in windows through the speaker icon on the bottom right of the screen. Click on the icon, and drag the slider up or down to change the volume.
If you don't have the correct drivers installed, these two settings are separate (e.g. It is possible to have the hardware volume down low, and the software volume set really high, and still have music playing relatively quietly). I would suggest turning both of them up and see if the sound gets louder.

Sound from speakers is not clear

Try head phones. Are they also not clear? IF they sound ok then its possible your speakers have been damage. Try another source, Music mp3, Cd, etc. Are all the sources the same. If Headphones sound good and speakers bad then troubleshoot the speakers. If both sound bad then troubleshoot the software and settings. Right click on the speaker icon in the task bar and adjust audio setting. Try playing audio with windows media player and then play the same file/song with another software, I-tunes, quicktime, VNC, etc. Does different software play the file correctly and another play it not clear. Then adjust the software settings in the player thats bad. .. .

My iphone2g suddenly lost volume. I checked thevolume control and sounds. When I adjust low to high volume the phone sounds fine. But no sound when incoming calls.

first make sure you have all current software by going to settings-general-and about, if its not the current software download the most current software through itunes, with the most current software of itunes also, you can also try doing a reset of all settings by going to settings-general-reset all settings, if those do not solve the issue it would be classified as a device issue

No sound , sound drivers are working

Most common reasons for this trouble are:
  • Such kind of troubles arise after some device / software is installed which tries to gain control as default sound device.
  • Also while un-installation of certain softwares, some shared files are removed. At times some important shared file can be deleted which causes troubles with working of sound drivers.
  • While installing certain games, it tries to gain control of sound or video drivers and may accidentally harm these driver softwares.
Lets see the ways to fix such troubles

Step1 : First of all check what is your default audio device setting. For this, open Control Panel > Sounds and audio devices, open Audio tab as shown in picture below.
774a71c.jpg
See that the Device selected is your sound-card or on-board audio device. It should not be blank or some modem device. Set the Default sound playback and sound recording device correctly from the drop down menu. If your device is not there in this list see the step 2.

Step2: If the step 1 is not successful, it means that your sound device driver software has become either corrupt or has been accidentally un-installed. In such case, install the sound driver from the sound-card/mother-board driver CD. You can also download the latest driver if you don’t have the driver CD. After you install the driver, restart your computer, and then check the settings as in step 1 again

Sound replay quality

Some sound playing devices come with software that have different sound environment settings. Like Big Hall, Cinema, Pipeline etc. Check to see if you have set that environment to any such settings. If so, select no environment or none and try again.

I have a emachine w3653 and the sound is horrible. Music and all. Sounds like I'm sitting in a barrel or getting a bad echo.

Dear Jenneric2009,
It would be too early to blame computer sound card for the bad sound quality .. here are few questions for you..
  1. How are you listening to the sound.. I mean through desktop speakers or headphone or you have 5.1 speakers installed etc...
  2. Did it ever work fine?
  3. Do you have any DSP software installed on your computer to modify or enhance sound?
  4. Does it sound the same when you listen it through various software.. For example does it sound the same when you play it in Winamp or in Windows media player ... This will tell us if it has to do with any settings on the player.
  5. Did you relocate your computer/speakers?
Most probably it must be due to software settings where you can set the sound effect like as if you are in a bathroom or in a barrel or in an auditorium etc ...
Please let me know if that helps and let me know about the additional information that I requested above.

Best Regards,
Srinivas.

Dell m90

This is a simple driver glitch. Uninstall the sound drivers from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the sound card and reinstall the drivers automatically. Then you may need to readjust the settings.

No sound

it sounds like that camera is fine. It might be the settings on the software for the camera. You can edit videos with most digital camera software and you may have put a mute setting on all uploaded video.

There is probably a setting in the DigiMax Master software on your PC that is causing the sound not to appear.
