Question about Cameras
This just happened to my camera and I was sure after reading the other posts that it was about time to by another camera. After going trough three completely new and unlocked cards i switched the card to the lock position and placed it in the camera. Sure enough it still said locked, but I then removed the same card and pushed the switch to the open position and reinserted the card. The error cleared and now my camera works fine.
This worked for me hopefully it will work for you. I have a feeling that the camera just needed to be reset and that trick worked for me. Good luck!

I tried putting my card in while locked. That made the camera act even stranger. The lens extended to full zoom but everything was black. It wouldn't turn off either. I opened the battery compartment to get to the memory. I then put it in the unlocked position. turned camera back on to see that it thought the card was still locked. I then loaded and unloaded my sim card 5 or 6 times in both the locked and unlocked position. That WORKED. :) It seems to have unstuck whatever switch the camera had to determine if the card was in the unlocked position.
Thanks for all the posts. Together they worked to help me out.

Thanks. Perfect. It doesn't say anything about this problem in the owner's manual. I didn't know you could adjust something on the card itself

Remove the SD memory card and you see there is a small locking switch on the card which is used to protect your data. Slide the switch away from the locked position. If already unlocked then slide it fully to locked and then firmly back again.
If this does not work then you must try another SD card (2GB maximum on your camera).
I hope that this solves your problem, please return the favour by rating my answer.
