If this is an SD card you may need to take out the card and slide the small switch on the card itself to the "Unlock Position"

Good Luck!

This just happened to my camera and I was sure after reading the other posts that it was about time to by another camera. After going trough three completely new and unlocked cards i switched the card to the lock position and placed it in the camera. Sure enough it still said locked, but I then removed the same card and pushed the switch to the open position and reinserted the card. The error cleared and now my camera works fine.
This worked for me hopefully it will work for you. I have a feeling that the camera just needed to be reset and that trick worked for me. Good luck!

Thanks. Perfect. It doesn't say anything about this problem in the owner's manual. I didn't know you could adjust something on the card itself

GOT THE ANSWER FOR THE LOCKED CARD. THERE IS A SLIGHT BUTTON ON THE SIDE OF THE SIM CARD THAT SLIDED UP AND DOWN. SLIDE IT TO THE OTHER SIDE... AND WHA-LAH.. UNLOCKED.

My son turned on his FP tough camera and it won't allow him to take pictures. It is showing the camera is locked. What can we do?

Camera worked good for 2 years until I pulled the card and deleted the files to insure I had enough space. Now I get Card Locked. I am still earching but if all else fails I will send it back for service.

We have the same problem. Suddenly showed card locked. I took the camera back to London Drugs and they are sending it in for servicing. They think it may be an internal problem. They said it was for sure not a problem with the card. Will have to wait about 3 weeks to get it back.

I've now bought two SD memory cards for my Canon PowerShot SD630, one 2GB and one 4 GB (different brands) and am getting the "Locked" error on both, although I've toggled the "Lock" switch both ways.  Very frustrating, since the card that shipped with the camera holds 8 photos.  I'm not seeing any solutions here.

Card locked?

Even if I switch the lock button on the card it does not change. Everytime I want to record something on the card it says card locked. But the card works perfectly in other cameras.
