I have a 1 1/2 year old touch sceen pos system that apears to have the back light turned off. I can see that the screen is working but it is almost a ghost imiage. If I turn the monitor power switch off and back on it will light correctly but only for a milli second or so. Although it is dark I can see my sceen saver if I look closely but it is very hard to see. Do I have a bad monitor, vidio card or a setting turned off? Help! Thanks, Jim
Our restaurant has three Dell 15 inch monitors Model# E153FPT that all developed that same problem just this year. If you turn the monitor off and on the screen will flash on for a millisecond then go dark again. I would love to know what is wrong and what it would take to fix this problem.
We have the same monitor and I found cap C922 swollen on the inverter board it is a 1000uf@16vdc hi temp cap which costs 25 cents to a dollar depending on where you buy it. If you can solder it is a cheap and easy fix. I'm not saying this will fix them all just stating what I found with ours.

Repairing the Dell E153FP with this complaint is not that hard but one that should be done by a qualified service technician or monitor repair specialist. Usually when you have this type of problem it is because either the inverter board, filter capacitors or the main board has one or more burnt components. Any TV/LCD repair man can test this out for you if you don't mind paying them to do tht typical charges at our shop for such a diagnosis run around 35-50 dollars... this cost is usually included if you have them repair the item for you.
