Question about Brother MFC-3240C All-In-One InkJet Printer

Printer does register cartridges

When we turn the printer on it says to replace cartridges but they r in there, we tried taking them out and putting them back in but the same thing came up. there is still ink in all the cartridges so i dont know what the problem is.

    I have the same problem with it saying no cartridge when there is one in there. I tried several times to reinstall thee cartridges but it still says no cartridge.

    I am having the same problem. I don't use generic cartridges either. It keeps saying "no cartridge" but they are in there. What next??

    Keeps telling us the yellow ink is low when we've already put a brand new cartridge in. ARRGHGHGHG Really hate this printer.

    i have the same problem it says the yellow ink is near empty even though i have inserted a brand new cartridge

With ours, it looks like there is ink in there, but it is not enough to register. When we put new catridges in, it fixes the problem

Black Cartriddge missing

Try taking out both cartridges from your printer. Re-brick your printer by pulling out the power supply, black box where the power cord is plugged in at the back of the printer, and put it back after 30 seconds. When the printer turns on, re-insert your color cartridge then close the cover. If no error appears, re-insert your black cartridge. If error still appears, then it could be a faulty cartridge. It would be best to replace it with a new cartridge, preferably a genuine one. Lexmark products work best when original supplies are used.

Am unable to print on screen says check drum cart. I have removed cartridge and replacded and removed cartridge but the message remains on screen I have turned it off removed cartridge and drum cartridge...

Sometimes the fuse in the drum blows but the printer does not register it so it still thinks a new drum is required. You can find new fuses on ebay. Its cheaper than buying another new drum. Also put a new drum in with the power turned off. Once the lid is closed then turn the power back on and then the fuse will blow at the correct time.

Only one of six original ink cartridges in my R340 and printer refuses to print calling for replacement. How to override its program an continue use other inexpensive inks? Thanks for help

you will not be able to override the program. some replacements do work. i suggest you remove the replacement ink, turn off your printer, turn it back on and put back the replacement cartridge. if it still does not work, the replacement might not be as compatible. get another brand. the chip included on the cartridges might be busted.

Try the following:

1. Open the printer access door.
2. Put out both ink cartridges and the printhead.
3. Let the printer access door open.
4. Put out all paper.
5. Pull out the ac adapter at the back of the printer.
6. Wait 60 sec.
7. Pull in AC adapter.
8. Wait 30 sec. then turn on the printer
9: Wait for the error message: Printer access door open.
10. Close the printer access door.
11. Wait for the error message: Printhead is missing.
12. Open the access door and put in only the printhead and the close the access door.
13. Wait for the error message: both ink cartridges are missing.
14. Open access door, put in only the black ink cartridge, then close the acess door.
15. Wait for the error message: Color ink cartridge is missing.
16. Open access door, put in the color ink cartridge and then close the access door.

If the error is solved, do a firmwareupdate right now.

That's a main motor error, something could be jammed in transport, or a generic toner cart. that is too hard to turn, try powering on with toner removed...

Take the cartridge out and put it in again. Sometimes the contact sensors on the cartridge do not register on the initial install.

I have an Epson Stylus 4400. when I replaced the ink cartridge with a new Tesco cartridge it still registers empty.

Compatibility issues. The epson cartridge has an intellidge chip so the printer's sensor can read the cartridge properly.
Try to take the cartridge out then put it back in to the printer. Let it charge like it normally does.
Use an epson cartridge. Log on to to get the compatible cartridge for your printer.

Changing cartridges

A few things...

make sure all of the tape and adhesive from the packaging has been removed. Newer printers use a small chip or other such thing to sense things like ink levels and whether you bought their OEM cartridge.

After you've done that, make sure the cartridge is seated properly in the printer when you put it back in.

If it's a third party cartridge, it may not have been manufactured right and the printer won't register that it's there.

Lastly, did you try running through the cartridge replacement procedure WITH the printer? sometimes they won't register a new cartridge until they register that you took the old one out they way it likes.

Let me know if this works, otherwise we can continue to troubleshoot.
