My laptop worked fine when I turned it off but now it will not come on at all. I have been told I may need a battery -do you know if all power goes through the battery even if it is plugged in? The cheapest battery I have found is 190.00 online, do you have any suggestions.
My old Acer Aspire 3500 ran on battery power until it died. Toward the end, I had to hold the power cord into the back of the computer to get a charge, and then after a while, power no longer made it to the laptop. What do you suggest?

My Acer Aspire 5002 WLMi is not getting any power. The week before it
went completely dead, it seemed like there was a short in the power
cord. While everything was plugged in, it would switch to the battery
power. I would wiggle the cord and get it to change back to
AC power. Then one day I left it on and plugged it in, and went out for
the afternoon, when I came back it was off and would not turn back on.
I tried to get any of the power lights to light up, but nothing. I
replaced the power cord, and when i plug it in, the light on the brick
goes off. The light on the brick on the cord is illuminated when it is
plugged into the wall but when I plug it into my computer the light on
the brick goes off.
I thought that the battery had died and if I put a new battery in
it might work. My sister has the identical computer, so when I was
finally able to use her computer I put her battery in my laptop and my
battery in hers. Neither her battery or her plug helped. Nothing
lights up and it does not turn on. Her computer works on my battery-
after her computer charged my battery. I moved my battery back to my
computer and it still does nothing!
Any thoughts, help or suggestions?
