GE side by side Turbo Cool won't turn off

I have a model PSC23MGPA which is running constantly. I think the Turbo Cool will not shut off even if I push the button. It only stops running when I open either door.

SOURCE: Ge Side by side model PSS26MSRSS

I had the same problem with mine, but I bought the 5 year warranty from Sears. They sent me a new board (Part Number WR55X10552) and the problem stopped. This is a common problem from what the guy at Sears told me. I put the board in myself in less than 20 minutes. It's a very easy job. I saw a few of these boards brand new on Ebay for $55.00. The board is different than the one that came with the refrigerator. It's been updated, so now when you open the doors the fan motor stays on (mine always shut off when I opened the doors with the old board). Good luck!

Verify you have voltage at your fan. If you have voltage and the fan is not running then it will need to be replaced.

Side by side GE turbo-cool Gss25XSRBSS, the freezer seems to be fine, the fridge is not cooling. Fans seem to be running smoothly, no weird noises. Turbo cool turns on. It hasn't been running for

if you go here you can see the damper, fan assy. that's in the top of your machine in the fresh food side
http://www.repairclinic.com/PartDetail/Damper/WR49X10091/1055112
this is a damper with another fan in it,when the t-stat calls for cold air the damper door opens to let the cold air in from the freezer and the fan in it blows the cold air around inside the fridge,if the freezer is fine and the fridge side is warm most likely this is your problem, part number WR49X10091 and it's around 130 dollars.unplug the machine, remove the light cover on the ceiling, remove the 1/4 inch screws and drop the light assy.remove thhe filter cover on the right side so you can remove the damper assy.pop off the cover on the piece that runs up the back center, remove the screws to the damper, read the instructions and put it back together again.should take you around 45 to 60 minutes.hope this helps and good luck.

Freezer freezes and won't cool either freezer or refrigerator.

On my GE side by side (model GSS20IEMDWW), the evaporator coils froze over due to constant running of the compressor. The compressor was constantly running due to a faulty temp sensor in the fresh food side of the unit. The sensor was apparently reading too hot, thus never signalling the computer that it should stop trying to cool.

This could be what the original poster was attempting to describe.

Turbo cool will not turn off in GE side-by-side refrigerator. Replaced circuit board...still stays on

There are three temp sensors in my GE side-by-side model GSS20IEMDWW (two in the freezer and one in the fresh food side). Replacing the temp sensor in the fresh food side was enough to allow the compressor to finally turn off.

For me, the problem manifested with an iced-over evaporator coil inside the freezer compartment. Since the compressor never cycled off (presumably because the temp sensor was providing faulty data about the temp inside the fresh food side, thus causing it to continually attempt to cool), the coils were constantly chilled. Eventually the ice on the coils would block the air flow and the freezer side could no longer freeze

I purchased a pair of inexpensive thermometers from a kitchen store and put one in the freeze and one in the fresh food side so I could occasionally look at the temps to see if it made sense for the compressor to be running - ie, was it really a warm-enough temp for cooling to be required, or was the computer reading faulty sensor data.

Six months later I also needed to replace both temp sensors in the freezer compartment. My refrigerator is about seven years old. I would recommend replacing all of the temp sensors just to rule that out.

Your model may be different, but this will give you an idea of part numbers and relative locations of the parts.

GE Arctica Refridgerator, PSS26MSRB SS, water leaking from tray, and other questions

ok first the water dispenser i would take out the drip tray and run a thin bead of black silicone to seal it there as to the turbo light getting brighter its because when you switch on turbo its running more power through the switch to the fan now to the fan early model fans were noisy i think ge redid them and if you contact ge you can get one of the newer fans hope this helps by the way loved the pics and mpeg that helps
