Where is the piston o ring

The term "o-ring" usually is in reference to some sort of rubber or neoprene ring that serves as a gasket or seal for something. Pistons do not have o-rings, but they do have piston rings. There are usually three or more rings on each piston. They are split rings of steel that are inserted into grooves of the outer circumference of the piston. They seal the piston to the cylinder walls and prevent the air/fuel mix from getting past the piston into the crankcase and prevents the crankcase oil from being sucked into the cylinders. With the pistons rings, the cylinders would not have sufficient compression to do their job effectively. Rings can and do break from time to time. This can cause degradation of performance or in the worst-case scenarios, serious cylinder damage.

Nissan cefiro s.touring vq20de consuming a lot of oil and white smoke coming from the exhaust

having a blue smoke no white with a lot oil consumption, means that you have a problem with either valve stem seals got hard and can not hold oil getting in the combustion chamber through the valves.Or your engine bores are worn due to long mileage if you have and the piston rings are not strong enough to hold oil below piston rings in the oil pan. or your piston rings or piston channels broken and oil goes into combustion chamber and burnt through the exhaust system. What you have too do? visit a qualified workshop for a correct inspection and decision taken.Good luck.

How do i chang worn rings?

im assuming you mean piston rings. to change your piston rings you need to remove spark plugs, empty your oil, remove your oil pan. unbolt your crank shaft and anything attached to it. at this point you should be able to pull your pistons down remove the rings and put new ones on as per the instructions provided with the new rings. use a hone or at least acid wash the cylinders before you reinstall your pistons. also make sure you reset your timing correctly. goodluck

What is the piston ring gap clearance for the ford laser

Which Piston Ring Gap? First of all you need to purchase a Hayne's Manual for your car. It will give you the specifications under the Engine section of the book. The piston has three rings on it. From the top you have your first compression ring, then your second compression ring (these "clearance" specifications or "gap"), should be the same as measured on the piston insofar as the clearance between the "lands and grooves" or between the ring and the piston groove. The third ring is your oil control ring which will have a different clearance between (for example), the top of the ring installed and the piston's groove. Then lastly, you need to place the compression rings and place them in the bore of the cylinder WITHOUT being installed on the piston. A measurement is then taken between the opening gap of the ring while in the block. To make sure it's lined up properly, invert a non-ringed piston down into the bore from the top to make sure the ring is installed at the same depth all the way around.

If you don't want to buy the Hayne's Manual, just stop by your local Dealership and get the Specifications for the two compression rings, the oil ring and the "installed" clearance or gap on the rings.

Hope this Helps,

How do you know if a piston ring has gone on a Ford Puma?

You cannot see a broken piston ring without taking the engine apart. If there is a broken piston ring you may or may not hear or see any evidence of it. If the piston itself is broken you will hear, see and maybe smell it with burning oil.

Piston ring installation on 96 geo 1.3 liter 4 cyl engine.

If you are that deep into things you will do poorly without a good manual. Are the pistons new or used?If they are used you need to completly clean the ring grooves in the pistons or the new rings will stick and gall.Did you remove the ridge at the top of the cylinders? If not there is a good the top ring will either break or bust the upper land off of the piston. Hopefully you had a machine shop go through the block. Check the ring manufacture's web site. I am sure they will have tips and instructions.
