A lot of computers don't put out enough juice to charge by USB port.
Congratulations you have effectively run down the battery to 0.  Plug this thing in an AC out charger and let it sit for about 8 hours.  Then try turning the thing on.  If you get nothing, then your battery is totally depleted to the point of no return and you gotta open this thing up and put in a new battery.

Ifthe laptop battery is more than 3 - 4 years old then the battery could be wornout. Rechargeable batteries have a finite number of charge and discharge cyclesand will lose their charge capacity over time, i.e. won't charge to 100% andgradually the charge reduces until the battery won't charge up atall. ORThe battery shows a 100% charge but when the adapter is disconnected thebattery drops off to zero capacity in a very short time. Ifthe battery drops to an unacceptable charge level then the battery needs to bereplaced.

I've been using mine for the past two years.. but its not cahrging up now.. no matter how long i keep it plugged in it just dont respond after a few mins

Hi geethuki,

1-Try reinstalling the firmware http://support.sony-europe.com/dna/wm/nwf/nwf.aspx?site=odw_en_GB&m=NWZ-B135

2-Charge it after installing the firmware
3-if it does not charges, the rechargeable battery inside it has expired, you will have to get it replaced.

hope i solve your problem if i did, please vote and rate me :)

If charging failure.

Try to connect it to your computer using the usb cord that goes along with your unit. Make sure that the phone is turned off and observe if it is charging or not. If it is cahrging you have to replace your battery charger.

?how do I charge the battery

Hello,

You use one of two methods
Method 1
1. Install the battery in its compartment.
2. Plug the AC adapter

The battery will start charging, and the status light for the battery will appear amber. The light will remain amber as long as the battery is not fully charged. When the cahrge is completed, the light will turn green.

Of course, if your are using your computer while battery is being charged, it will take three to four times longer to complete the charge.

Method 2

Toshiba sells battery chargers which you can use to charge a battery outside of the computer.

Hope it helps.

Battery life?

Here is a replacement source

The batteries are covered under warranty for three years. Sony batteries are know for not keeping a good charge after a few years.

If there not holding a charge, they wouldn't appear on the LCD screen at all. I the AC power is working fine, then that probably isn't the source for not getting a charge.

You could try lightly scraping the contacts on the battery and see if that makes a difference and recharge them.
