Question about Motherboards

1 Answer

CPU installation I have Pentium 3/ 450 MHZ, I have picked up a 933 MHZ CPU to install, but now here is the problem. The mother board I have is a Elitegroup P6BXT-A+ (See attached files) it is equipped with a 450CPU Cartridge (Slot 1) and a Socket PGA370 where I could install the new 933 MHZ chip i have, but some one had mentioned that I might have to change some jumpers. Is this true? If so, do you know which ones? If not true can i just proceed by removing the 450 MHZ cartridge and install the 933 MHZ CPU I have. Please advise. Thanks Jamie

Re: CPU installation

on the mobo there should be a little table next to a set of jumpers that tells u what jumpers to set for the multipliers. These days this is done in the bios but if your board is old (P3 which it is) there should be some white set of jumpers about 3 in a row near the cpu with a little table printed next to it. You should set it up so the multipliers adds up to guess is you should double what you have now to get it to 900 which is closest u are going to get

good luck

Hi, I need standard spec info of VGA built on Asus P5GC-MX 1333 whether 64 Mb or 128 Mb. Many thanks & regards, Richard

you can use up to a maximum of 224 mb of your computer's RAM for the onboard video chip to use. You can install a video card with any amount of memory (which would give you a lot better video performance).

Yes, you can install a Pentium dual core processor on this mother board. Below is a complete list of the compatible processors for this motherboard:
Windows 7 will also work with this motherboard. Just make sure that you install a minimum of 2GB RAM for you to take full advantage of Windows 7's Aero feature.

NO. you cannot install DUO to *********** board. the DUO is pinless and the P4 3.06 is pin type if you want to upgrade your PC you have to replace the mother board too.

I have 810 bu mother board

your board is compatible with pentium 3 processors through the "coppermine" revision, the pentium 3 "tulatin is not supported" here is a list from wikipedia of the "coppermine" processors supported by your board.:

  • 100 MHz FSB: 500, 550, 600, 650, 700, 750, 800, 850, 900, 1000, 1100 MHz (E-Models)
  • 133 MHz FSB: 533, 600, 667, 733, 800, 866, 933, 1000, 1133 MHz (EB-Models)

Coppermine-T (the only coppermines with an attached heatsink)
  • 133 MHz FSB: 800, 866, 933, 1000, 1133 MHz

The Tulatin core is NOT compatible with intel 810 boards, and they can be easily confused with the coppermine-t's because they also have attached heatsinks.

Gigabyte mother board ga-6bx7+

You might have damaged the CPU/ motherboard during the process of overclocking.

Check your CPU on other compatible mobo.

Check your mobo documentation properly & set the jumpers rightly. If that doesn't help, you will have to replace the mobo.
