my t.v isn't a 13in,it's 27in,but i have a blue screen and a red key at the bottom of the screen. My son was playing with a universal remote and it happened.I can't find that remote but i have the original one and it just turns it on and off none of the other buttons won't work.I believe the t.v. is in some sort of lock that i need a code for that i don't have,Should i just throw away the t.v. or there a way to fix it?It's about 41/2 years old.my t.v isn't a 13in,it's 27in,but i have a blue screen and a red key at the bottom of the screen. My son was playing with a universal remote and it happened.I can't find that remote but i have the original one and it just turns it on and off none of the other buttons won't work.I believe the t.v. is in some sort of lock that i need a code for that i don't have,Should i just throw away the t.v. or there a way to fix it?It's about 41/2 years old.

Your Apex TV is locked by someway. To unlock it, Apex TVs have parental locks that allow you to block certain
programs based on their rating. When this
feature is no longer needed and you want your TV to display all programming no
matter its rating, you must unlock your TV. Unlocking your Apex TV is done
completely from your remote control and does not require any tools. The process
takes less than 5 minutes. • Press the
"Menu" button on the remote control and use the arrow buttons to
scroll down to the "Parental Guide" option, then press the
"Enter" button. Type in the default parental code "6688" if you have not
set your own code. If you have set your own code, type it in. If you set your
own code and forgot it, override it by using "6688." Use the arrow keys to switch the parental lock to "OFF."
This allows all programs to be viewed no matter the rating. Press the
"Exit" button on the remote and start watching all your channels.

Follow the steps..its easy. It will ask for the model of your remote which you will find where your batteries are located..The code I used for my APEX tv was 0023.. to load the code first hold the setup button until the red light stays on..then press tv or whatever mode you are setting up..then enter the code and if the red light goes off it is the right code and you should then press channel up to see if it works...If this code doesn't work the site above offers other codes.. Hope this helps!!
I'm afraid you will need the original remote control hand unit folks.
Apex TVs use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for many models is 6688. Other sets may not have one, or may have a default code of 1225 instead of an override code.
To use the override code:
Hit the MENU key to get to the menus.
Go down to the SYSTEM menu and hit the right arrow on the remote control.
Once in the SYSTEM menu, go to PARENTAL GUIDE. It will ask for your code.
Enter the override code listed above. From here, you can turn on and off different rating restrictions, as well as set a new code.
No matter what the V-chip code is set to, the override code will still work. If you have a blank screen with a red key on the bottom left, simply press the (function or F) button and the mute button at the same time. This will unlock the screen and allow you to view the channel as desired
your tv is locked! If you have a blank screen with
a red key on the bottom left, simply press the (function or F) button

allow you to view the channel as desired. • If your TV asks for a
4-digit code or password please enter 3308 or 6688 to unlock the screen
or reset any preset rating levels. • If you have a GT2011J or GT2011S
Television, hold the (Display) button for 10 seconds, it will unlock
the screen. If password or code is requested, try 3308 or 6688. http://vchip.atspace.com
