Razr ccan't hear caller

Hello:
I have a two year old razr that recently has been giving me trouble. I cannot hear the incoming caller when i answer. I have to switch to speaker to hear them. Then all of a sudden it works O.K. Now it is back to the same problem. Any ideas? I have already pulled the battery and sim card twice.

I have the same problem with my 2 year old RAZR, I've tried the same solutions as goalie 33 and to no avail

there are tools to back it up on the net from motorola
1- try to reset it
if that doesn't do it
2- try firmware updates
