Whirlpool Miccrowave (GH7145XFQ-1) went dead...

While heating up a meal our Whirlpool Miccrowave (GH7145XFQ-1) went dead. I have replaced the ceramic in-line fuse (250v 20a), but this does not seem to be the problem. Any suggestions?

Thanks Sedonix for the quick reply!

It is indeed getting power, and diplay is not lighting up.

Same problem as poidog. Checked power to electronic control board, and its good at 120v. I'm thinking its the low voltage transformer, or the entire board, since the display doesn't power up. Any ideas for what the voltage output should be from the low voltage transformer? I can get at those wires to test. I'm going to pull the board out to look at the ?front? and search for bad solder joints. Any help is greatly appreciated!

The machine seems to lost any power or electricity. Is it because of the fuse. If it is, how can I replace?

Our went dead too - lights and clock are still working, but it makes an awful noise while operating. Burnt plastic smell too.

Where is the fuse in under-counter miccrowave?

remove the vent grill at the top, may have to slide to left after screws are removed. then you will see a screw holding the control panel, remove. then slide the panel up slightly and the panel should come off. behind the panel you fine a 20 amp 250 vac glass type fuse. remove and replace. if your MW works cool,,,,, if it does not you may need to call for service.

Can you microwave an aluminum tray (ex: frozen meal)?

No, this is not recommended. the newer microwave will not flash but, if you put aluminum inside, it will damage the Magnetron. this creates the heat and, if it is damaged, you will lose the heating action in this unit and the Magnetron is not a cheap replacement part.

I do not recommend inserting any aluminum objects at all.
