We cleared the error with Soulvisitor's code (thank you!) but 2 months later we could not clear the error, and had bits of red rubber around the fuser area. Bought a fusing assembly, part #DUNTW0459RSZZ for $120 online, and it was not difficult to install. Just unplug unit, remove four screws to take off back cover and cable guard, unplug three connectors to fusing assembly, open right side door and unscrew two screws, one on each side of the fuser holding it in, replace fuser, being careful of big spring in top left corner, plug in three connectors, replace covers. We've been back in business for 6 months now. Thank you for the help, everyone at FixYa.

Performing a Fault Reset 14 will reset your WorkCentre and will help to clear error codes.
Find the pink Clear button on the Control Panel of the WorkCentre.
Find the button below the word Auto.
Press these buttons in the following sequence: [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] NOTE: All of the lights on the Control Panel should go out and the LED Display should go blank. If the lights do not go out, then repeat step 3 until they do. It may be necessary to increase or decrease the pace of the [Clear], [Auto], [Clear], [Auto] sequence.
Press the [10's] key one time and the [1's] key four times to enter '14' in the LED Display, as if you were to make 14 copies.
Press the green [Start] button.
Press the pink [Clear] button two times.
The WorkCentre should now warm up and come to ready.
If the above steps do not clear the error code, repeat steps 3 to 6 a second time.
this is the heater unit error
very quickly in sequence do the following
[clear]-[exposure]-[clear]-[exposure] machinewill go dead input 14 and press start mc will clear error
if the unit is faulty you will have h4 again
You have an issue with one of the fuser thermistors.
You can try this.
Press in order # * C *. The diagnostics screen will appear. Then enter the number 14 as if making 14 copies, then start. It will then ask for fuser error clearance, Press 1 then execute then yes. Then press clear all a couple of times. See if it resets. If the problem continues you need to replace the thermistors that sense the temperature of the fuser rollers.
Just press the following keystrokes: # * C *
(That's pound, star, C, star) This will clear the display error, now
press…14, then press the green button twice. This should let your
printer start to warm up and you have fixed your problem.
H4 indicates a heating problem in the fuser. The roller never reached a specific temp. Make sure the fuser is free of any left over paper pieces (maybe from a paper jam). Check to make sure its clean.
Try reseting the the error in service mode.
To enter the test command mode, press the keys as
follows one after the other :
[#] key [*] key [C] key [*] key then enter 14 and press start/copy key. this clear error counter. make sure to restart copier afterwards.
HEAT LOW CODE... FUSER NOT WARMING UP. FIRST RY TO RESET AS FOLLOWS. DEPRESS THE CLEAR KEY -THEN EXPOSE MODE KEY - CLEAR KEY AGIAN - EXPOSE MODE KEY. THIS WILL GET YOU INTO SIMUALTION MODE. DEPRESS 1 4 THEN HIT START. TURN OFF THEN ON. IF ID DOES NOT RESET FUSER PROBLEM. GOOD LUCK
H4-00 is a fuser related service code. you need to get into the simulation programs and run sim 14 to reset the code. Make sure there is no paper jammed in the fuser. (The hot part on the right side inside the door)
The correct buttons to push in order to get into the service mode on a 162D are [#] key, [*] key, [C] key and [*] key. Then you key in 14 - 00 and press the Start key. If that fails to bring your machine back on, you'll have to replace the fusing assembly.
