Hi there it's SmartAlec from NelsonVacuums.com.au here. There are 2 possible causes either there is a blockage in the hose or there is a problem with the valve that lets you select floors / tools. If you remove the hose and lower the handle to the vacuuming normal position while looking in the hole the tube used to plug into you should see a gate type part moving. If it is still you need a new valve. I can supply this part if need be, if you feel confident to fit it that is. Regards Alec

No suction when using hose attachments - motor runs and under cupboard vent works - just not able to use just the hose with attachments

does the vacuum turn on when hose plugged into wall outlet assuming your using central vac. if it does not turn on then the metal band in the hose end is possibly cracked.

Why do I have no suction from our EP754C vacuum? Turns on but no suction?

Hi, please check the hose attachment you are using, sometimes tissue paper or fluff can cause the hose to block. You will have to remove any obstruction. Another test will be to check the area where the hose attaches to the vacuum, switch on without hose and use a piece of paper to see if there is suction in this area, if no suction then the problem could be that the inner filter housing the motor needs cleaning. Best of luck.

BAD SUCTION WHEN USING ATTACHMENTS

Bad suction often means a blockage somewhere, so check all the possible areas for blockage that relate to the hose. Also, check the hose for splits, as they often split at either of the ends - this would greatly affect the suction when using the hose and tools (and can sometimes only be spotted when the hose is stretched at the end points).

Riccar 8995 no suction

I think you mean it's an 8955, Riccar has not had a 8995 model. If there is no suction in the hose it has to have something clogging it. Open the little round opening on the back of the vacuum where the hose attaches to see if you have suction there.

Decreased suction

you might have a clog, to try and unclog the lines, you need to unplug the unit, and remove the bag compartment. Then take a shop vac using the hose attachment hold it into the attachment door where there is low suction and try to draw the clog out the way it went in.

Floor attachment does not suction, no clog in the hose, hand held works when dettached from floor attachment

Have you checked the floor head? Use a pipe cleaner or twisted metal to carefully and gently see what's in there. It sounds like dirt or something has definately sealed up the main suction channel.

Suction loss when handle is tipped back to clean carpet

can any one help,
Our Dyson Animal vacuum has plenty of suction when it is upright and the attachments are being used off the hose, but when the handle is tipped back to begin cleaning carpets the beater head is getting no suction. As the handle is being tipped back you can hear what sounds like a flapper valve in the body of the vacuum opening and then all the suction just goes away.

I have little suction when using the hose attachment

Check the hose for a blockage. If you remove the hose, if there is suction at the point where the hose hooks to the back of the vac, then the hose is clogged. If no suction there, check filters, make sure they are clean.

Stair attachment has weak suction

Did you put the duct in for the hose? It goes in front of the tank, take out the duct (#3)that is there and put in the duct that is on the end of the hose. Is there a slit somewhere in the hose, if so you will loose suction.
