Re: Clearance for Jenn-air counter depth

For proper air ciirculation its always good to have as much air circlation as possible that would in turn give your appliance longer life the least amount of space would be at least 2-3 inches all around.

What size should I get? Height 64 inches;32 inch width;26 inches deep.

The maximum size you get is determined by the space you have available after allowing for side and top ventilation which is critical to the functioning of the Refrig.

Allow at least 2-3 inches either side and 2-3 inches at the top if there are cupboards or shelving over the Refrig location.
measure out the maximum distance in depth you are happy with after allowing an inch or so clearance at the rear so you do not buy a unit that projects to far into the room space.
Then you can check manufacturer sizes and choose a frig brand that fits within that space you have measured out.

What is my clearance regulations for

Hello Donna;

My name is Peter. I am a retired field service refrigeration technician.

The critical clearance, especially with under the counter units is in the back. You need extra space between the back wall and the heat coming off the compressor. I like to see 3" minimum. The more the better. If you are not getting sufficient air flow in the back then, your cooling condenser coil fan will constantly run in a effort to dissipate the heat.
Most manufactures recommend 1-1/4" minimum on the sides.

Can I place my 36"

It shouldn't be a problem if you have clearance. The refrigerator is well insulated and is a room temperature. The TV shouldn't generate enough heat to effect the refrigerator.
The TV might be a little high to comfortably view from all angles????
Happy viewing,

Home Depot lists a depth dimension for a GE refrigerator. Is the handle included in the depth dimension?

no. depth is measured from the back of the box to the front of the box but does not include the handles. The depth of the cabinet is used to determine if the doors will open sufficiently to clear countertops and half walls or appliances. Also helps determine if enough space will be available to open doors in small kitchens such as "c" shape, "L" shape or narrow galley kitchens. for small kitchens, the best frig is a side by side. The doors are smaller and less swing space is needed. A 25 cubic foot side by side uses less swing space then a 15 cubic foot single door. If you are worried about depth, you can also get a counter depth frig which will stick out past your countertops by about 2 inches rather then 8-10 inches with a standard frig. standard depth is about 28-36 inches from the back wall when plugged in. Handles get in the way most often in width measurements because they prevent the doors from swinging past 90 degrees if located next to a wall.

I'm thinking about purchasing the amana 60229 fridge, which is 35 7/8'' wide. My space is 36'' wide. I'm worried it won't fit. How much clearance is necessary?? THanks

more than 1/8" for air circulation. should have at least an inch or two all around or it will get to hot from the compressor.

Frig not stayng cool. Freezer not freezing

most fridges have a evaporator dish or container.
it must be emptied ...and cleaned and disinfected.

now-a -days they are usually mated with the compressor and cool this unit down. notice there is no coil along the back of the is usiually behind the fridge at the bottom with a cardboard or plastic access cover...
this will make the unit cool better and return the cooling to normal....
clean out your freezer...i bet it's full of 4 month old packs of something you'll never eat....this will let the freezer breathe and circulate air to the coil ...i bet it has 3 in of ice on it...yikes...your not alone...most people do this...\
get a freezer if your getting ready for the apocalypse and liberate some room.
good luck

Most of these covers are made of plastic with snap together tabs. Sometimes there is a "popout" plastic piece with a screw/s behind it.
