I have a "classic" Minote 8060B - P1454IW which is brilliant although getting a bit slow that has now decided to intermittetly turn out the screen fluoro lights.
The image is still showing and performance is OK but I can't see the image.
Two questions:
Can this screen problem be easily fixed (new lights?)
What is the easiest way to speed up the performance?

- As BIOS starts up I get a couple moments of screen display followed by the display flickering momentarily then no display. The notebook boots it's operating system normally and I can see that the windows graphics are on screen, just! Appears that the controller for the electroluminescent panel has failed!- russ6901Solution #1

Problem fixed. The screen surround came off easily to reveal the inverter circuit board. Having retrieved some useful data from "laptopscreensdirect" I made a simple resistor network across the output to the CCFL (lamp). It allowed me to measure the output using a multimeter, Looking for 200v rather than 20Kv. On switching on the lappy the meter flickered and then indicated 0v. I purchased a replacement inverter online from the above web-shop. Easily replaced, my screen was running within minutes.
