my monitor says it is working but it is not displaying my desktop, i think it may have to do with the videocard, help me!

if you have installed a new video card recently it could be faulty drivers.
try rebooting, pressing F8 before windows boots up and choose safe mode. safe mode loads basic drivers and you should be able to troubleshoot better from there.
