Kodak EasyShare v803 Is Frozen And Will Not Shut Off Or Retract Lens

I turned on my camera and everything loaded as it normally should, pressed 'Review' and began going though family pictures. I zoomed in on one picture up to 8x, then began zooming out when it stopped and froze at 6x. An image is frozen on the screen. It will not close out of 'Review', will not turn off, and will not retract the lens. The battery is fully charged, and plugging it into the USB port of my computer or outlet charger does nothing.

It has been frozen like this for several minutes.
Please help!

It has not been dropped and is within warranty.

    Ah!

I figured it out on my own. Cameras with user-inserted alkaline batteries that freeze up can be remedied by removing and reinserting the batteries. Well, since my camera doesn't use alkaline batteries, I thought my camera was ruined for good. Until I fiddled around with the SD slot and saw a small black box next to the SD card slot. There was a small latch that I released, which shut off the camera. I replaced the latch, and turned the camera back on, and it owrks perfectly again.

I just had the same issue with my Kodak EasyShare and all I did was pull out the SD card and instantly it kicked back on and started working properly. I don't know why it worked I am assuming it just had a glitch trying to save the pictures or access the pictures but it did work none the less.. :) Happy Picture taking!!

Lens won't retract completely. Picture is blurry.

I wish I could offer some simple solution, but the lens has somehow gotten damaged and is no longer able to focus or withdraw into the camera body. It could be as simple as some sand in the lens, but even that will require a trip to a camera repairman

Kodak v803 wont turn on

i had the same problem, if you try to turn the lens in as if you turning a dile, the lens will go back in manually once you have the lens completly in again, as if the camera is switched off, then turn the camera back on at the power button and the camera will operate as normal, this worked for me i hope it works for you too.

It just shut off....

it normally indicates a problem with the batteries. Try inserting disposable alkaline battieres in the camera and turn it on.

If the lense is still out at the moment try pressing the play button the back of the camera to view the pictures taken, even with a very low battery this normally close the lense properly and enables you to view the pictures.

Lens is most likely been knocked out of place, that would be the reason why you have out of focus and/or blurry photos. This would also be the reason why you can't retract or extend the lens.

Gently pushing on the lens MIGHT fix the camera, but I would only try as a last resort. Sometimes all that is wrong is the gears get out of place, and by gently pressing on the lens, it snaps the gears back in line, which will bring the lens into working order again.

Kodak dx6440 wont power up lens wont and retract

I have the same/similar problem. I could hear the camera attempting to retract the lens. Camera shut down after timeout.

Disassembled camera & found two teeth missing from plastic gear in gearbox attached to lens motor. Don't know yet if part(s) are available.

Camera had light use. Patheticly short life & that Kodak didn't use stronger nylon gears. Bought a barely use Kodak P880 recently, & the autofocus died shortly after. Web search showed others had same failure. I'll never buy another Kodak camera.
