Low battery icon on Midland LXT350 walkie-talkies

The low battery icon appears every time I turn either unit on. I have tried one set of new disposable batteries, one set of recharged batteries, and the Midland rechargeable battery pack. Is there truly a problem with the battery level?

Also, I may not be charging the battery pack correctly. Once I plug the wall adapter into the outlet, do the end plugs go directly into the side of the walkie-talkies?

I would very much appreciate any help you could offer! ( I am a begginer, as you can see!)

Your LXT350 is equipped for using an optional rechargeable NiMH battery pack which can be recharged by inserting the AC adapter into the radio charge jack, or with the optional desktop charger.

I would make sure the radio is off, then insert the charger. Charge only for the prescribed time (no more/no less) and remove from the charger.

Charge time is initially 24 hours. Charge time is about 12 hours thereafter. For maximum battery life, it is recommend charging the battery pack when the low battery icon comes on. Remove the radios from the charger when the charge time expires.

My Midland walkie talkie quits transmitting about 3 seconds after I start transmitting

It is more likely a power issue. PTT switches do not normally cause a short circuit. Check the batteries, swap the batteries and see if that helps. Radios take a great deal more power to transmit than turn on or receive. If not the battery, try a low voltage battery, such as a cordless phone battery. If it still occurs, check your warrany and send it back to the factory.

Motorola XTR 446 talkie walkie is not receiving

Try programming the radios without an eliminator code and see if they work together then. If so, there is something wrong with the eliminator code portion of the radio. Also, check your batteries, switch batteries between the units and see if the problem moves to the other unit. It takes more energy to transmit than receive, so a bad or very weak battery could exhibit a similar problem. The radio icon will illuminate whenever a radio is transmitting or receiving. When the radio is in standby mode, the icon should not be shown. Your radio with the icon on all the time may be stuck in transmit. Check your PTT button to see if it is slightly stuck or depressed. Walkie talkies were working yesterday (gift from Christmas) and today the red power light is on indicating both working, but we can only get sound out of one of them.....any suggestions? brand new...

Hello,
These walkie talkies are pretty simple to use. Turn on and turn the volume up and talk. So if you turn it on it is possible for there to be enough juice in the batteries to make the LED function but not enough to modulate (or talk) to the other walkie talkie. Have you tried to replacing the batteries with new ones yet? Sometimes recharge ables go bad and they are no good when you install them into your item. So make sure the batteries you installed are "new." And replace in both units. Should this not work, given the nature of the item and the age of those who will more than likely be using them, they break and soldier joints come loose. The back has a screw that is a specialty tool to remove. Outside of removing that and taking a look there is not much that can be done. Make sure to put at least 5 feet between the two radios to allow for good reception.
Regards, Tony

Trying to get our Motorola (yellow/ black) to communicate with Midland two way radios. They Midland will receive messages from Motorola, but they can not send to it Motorola.

Most likely your CTCSS tone codes are not turned on on the Midland radios. The CTCSS codes are also known as "Privacy Codes" or similar.
They will be from 1 to 38. Your Midland manual will tell how to set the codes on the radios. The Motorolas usually show the selected tone code below the channel number.
Alternately, you may be able to turn off the tone code on the Motorola radio(s) by setting it to "0" or "off". Then you will not need codes turned on on any of your radios and they should all communicate fine.

One of my midland lxt 420 walkie talkies wont charge!!!!!

If it has rechargable batteries in it like mine does, the batteries have probably lost all of its life.. you can replace them.. if you dont have batteries, you could have a loose wire inside the walkie talkie that wont let it charge..

Hello i have a Uniden GMR-325 (7 Channels) Two Way Radio that....

Hi Zachary
I predict that you have trouble with only one unit.
Try to find some one with either the same units ( on same Frequency of course) or a receiver that also covers same Frequency and transmit on one GMR then the other to esablish which unit is faulty!
The faulty unit should then become apparent, the buzzing could be caused by transmisson of the faulty unit, check all Antenna connections, even change antennas over on testing as prescribed above,
good luck John.
