Question about Intel 3945ABG (WM3945AGM1WB) 802.11a/g/b Wireless Adapter

1 Answer

Wireless not working after standby, restart of machine required.

I have recently installed Kaspersky Internet Security, I don;t know if this is part of the problem but...
After putting my laptop into standby the wireless card will not find my wireless network saying that no wireless networks could be found at all. I have tried restarting the device but to no avail so I have been forced to restart the laptop which resolves the problem. However, as you can appreciate this is not an ideal situation.
On a separate note, the wireless card switches itself off if the laptop is started with the power adaptor plugged in or if the power adaptor is plugged in the wireless switches off and has to be turned on again with the wireless switch on the laptop. The laptop is an Acer Aspire 5670.

Some wireless adaptors may encounter the compatibility problem with some routers when adaptor's driver is out dated. I have a Toshiba laptop that had the same problem. After I installed the latest driver, the problem resolved. You may need to contact manufacturer of the computer to get the updated driver. If you cannot get a driver updated, you can also try to lower the security to WEP.

Having trouble uninstalling netgear wpn511

Need your version of MS Windows (or are you using Linux or Apple OS?), anyway, assuming
MSWin XP or WinVista or Win7,

start > control panel > add or remove programs > (L-click) Netgear software > (select) "Uninstall"

but if these vanilla instructions have been tried & aren't working, you may need to do a "system
resore" to a recent system configuration that worked well, then uninstall there, then re-install
all the stuff you're missing by doing a system restore...... if you've installed alota stuff recently
(like me) this could be very painful, and you won't know how far back to go until an uninstall works.

From the Netgear WPN511 RangeMax reference manual
avail from:

Removing the WPN511 Software

If necessary, you can remove the wireless adapter software in these two ways:
• Navigate the Windows Start menu to the WPN511 Wireless PC Card program group, select the
uninstall option, and follow the screen prompts.
• Navigate the Windows Start menu to the Control Panel Add or Remove Program item, select
the WPN511 Wireless PC Card option, and follow the screen prompts.

If your system is acting unreliable and/underperforming in other ways, suspect a virus/worm/trojan
and clean out your system with Avast!/Norton/AVG/Kaspersky/McAfee, etc. then try the
uninstall again.

I have a desktop running windows 7. I got it installed but the wireless connection is disabled, i can't enable it.

What kind of antivirus do you have on your computer??
If you have Kaspersky then it may be disabling the wireless connection.
Try this.

Go to the network conections. Right click the wireless connection and click properties. Under " this connection uses the ff...." you will see Kaspersky there, uncheck the Kaspersky option then click apply or ok. just restart your computer and then you will then be able to go online wirelessly.

So it seems that your unable to connect wirelessly using the linksys adapter? The Internet connection before is working properly?

Acer Aspire T180 can't get on internet due to driver corrupt or misssing?

Hello, It sounds to me like there is a conflict between the Kaskersky and Vista. I'd un-install and use Avast but AVG is a Good Anti-virus also. Vista is sometimes a nightmare. I have problems with certain flash-drives which will not work in Vista. They freeze up the computer. It's Vista. Hope this helps. Good luck.

Kaspersky firewall blocking wireless router!!!! - Have to pause firewall to connect to internet.

if you want to stop Kaspersky firewall blocking
then go to control panel > Network Connections > your Local Area Connection > properties > In the General tab you will see list of check box's > in one of them you will find "Kaspersky Anti-Virus NDIS Filter" Unstall that one.

This should do the work.
