Question about Canon PowerShot A85 Digital Camera

Canon A85 - Can't take Pics

Dear Camera Experts,
I have an A85 and one day while I wanted to capture pics, I noticed that the display window showed blurry images and when viewing images through the LCD screen - the picture showed a steak of different colors and was jittery.
I thought the display was going on me and when I reviewed previously captured images (on my CF card), they appear fine in the LCD display.

Unfortunately the camera is out of warranty and when I brought it to a photo shop, they told me that the typical cost of fixing is not worth the repair - "buy a new one". I think that's just a sales person working hard for his commission.
Right now, the camera display is blank (black screen) with the camera usual icons displayed (red eye, SL, etc.). I don't think it's the LCD dispay and have a feeling that the issue lies inside - Lens?
Thanks for your help in advance.

I have sony v1, unfortunately it was dropped, now the problem arises that you can see previous stored pics in lcd but when you want to capture the image, nothing is displayed and if you take the picture it...

Hi,

Based on the information you've provided it seems that the CCD Image Sensor of the Camera is affected which displays the live view of the Camera and the image which get captured. If the Image Sensor is affected, the previous views of the images and the icons will get displayed as normally, but the live view and the captured images will be distorted or blacked out. You may try power resetting to check if the issue can be resolved.

Performing a manual power reset

Turn off the camera.

Remove the battery pack.

Press and hold the power button for 30 seconds.

Allow the camera to remain without power for 60 seconds.

Reinsert the battery pack.

Turn on the camera.

If the issue persists, service may be required.

Thanks for contacting FixYa.

Check to make sure that you did not accidentally change image format from jpg to crw(camera raw). Your camera lcd will only display jpg files and you need special software to view raw files on the pc.
