was working fine this morning, then went to use it this afternoon and now when its loading up it shows a picture of the card coming out the bottom, then gets a red cross through it, or it comes onto the first orange screen and sticks like that, the only way to turn it off is to press the reset button its a tom tom one new edition uk and ireland

This is most likely dealing with the gps not being able to read the sd card. Try taking it out and cleaning off the gold connectors, and blowing into the slot where the memory stick goes. Then put it back in and turn the gps on. If it still doesn't work, then this means that the software on your gps system is corrupted and unreadable. You will need to update it/re-install the software on it. To do that, you can download this software which will automatically search for the latest updates: http://www.tomtom.com/services/service.php?id=16&tab=87
