Question about Saeco Classico Espresso Machine

Water Too Hot, Coffee Too Watery

Our SAECO Classico has been behaving very randomly.  The coffee is often too watery.  I think the water gets heated too hot: you can feel it when you drink (indeed you can feel the temperature through the cup) and you can see that, when you prime the machine, the water is hot and steamy.  What confuses me is that this behavior is somewhat random (though these days the coffee is more often than not not quite ok) AND that priming the machine a lot (by taking out quite a bit of water before making our coffee) ultimately does not seem to help: the water seems no longer to be steamy, the flow seems nice, but the coffee is still too watery and - I think - too hot.  Any ideas? Do I have to bring it in somewhere for maintenance?  (PS: I know the problem is not with the quality of the coffee, or the amount, or the grind...  These were all the same when the machine was working just fine.)  THANKS!

I am pretty sure that the thermostat that stops the heating when the temperature gets to 95 degrees Celsius needs to be replaced. Part is available on the net for about $15.00. I'd replace the other theormostat at the same time (it stops the heating when the steam function is on, around 127 degrees).

Re: Water Too Hot, Coffee Too Watery

Sounds like there is something wrong with the machine. Could be the thermostats or maybe something like an internal leak that is causing the machine to overheat. It sounds to me like you need someone to take a look at it..

We service saeco espresso machine and are stationed out of New York..

When I use the filter after a previous cup and it is still wet the coffee comes out very watery and undrinkable. When the filter is dry in the morning the coffee is perfect.

I'd suggest you try tamping with a bit more pressure, watery coffee is typically the result of water getting "around" the ground coffee as opposed to getting forced through it.

My Saeco Classico has problem. The pump is working

It sound as though the boiler is blocked by scale. May also be the coffee filter that's blocked. I am not familiar with this machine, but assuming that it's just a manual espresso machine, try running it with the filter handle removed. Any water emerging? If so, the coffee filter cup and/or filter handle outlets may be blocked. If there is only a small flow the boiler is almost certainly blocked with scale and descaling may cure the problem (do the first run with the filter handle off the machine. Next run with it on)

Hi - our Via Venezia has been a GREAT machine, and we love it, but over the past three weeks or so it seems the steamer arm is letting water through and the milk is getting watery. Can we replace that...

Your water is not getting hot enough to turn the water into great steam so you get more water in your milk. Have you ever descaled your machine?

Waret Pucks

Hi There are 2 problems that can cause a watery puck. 1. Like EsWorld said, If the grinds is too coarse it leaves room for more water and you get a watery puck. 2. But if your grind is like a grain of salt, the you don't have enough coffee going into the brew unit, and this leaves room for extra water. To fix this, there is a lever on the top center of the door. The lever will increase the dose if pushed towards the back. DON'T push the lever to the full back position. This could cause an over charge, which could cause the brew unit to dump the ground coffee with out making because it could not compress the charge, or it could break the brew drive. 1 click back from the full plus is fine and will give a great shot.

Vienna Deluxe Coffee Machine - Water doesnt heat up

indeed the heat sensor can be busted. Not a difficlult fix but time consuming as you need to get the whole machine appart.
Go to the saeco site and look in their parts list of your machine. It tels you the part number for the sensor. and you can order it anywhere.
Your boiler can be damaged too.
Kind regards eric
