Need help connecting the 2700HG-B to my PS3 (40gb) with ethernet cable. The "internet" light on modem flashes then goes red. "DSL" light stays green. I have a BT Broadband connection.

How do you want your ps3 and computer connected? do you want hardwire connection or wireless connection? if you're going for hardwire connection you just need to connect an ethernet cable to your modem and to your ps3/computer. any of those 4 LOCAL NETWORK slot will work. you would know that you would have a connection between the ps3/computer if the ETHERNET light will lit up. if you're going wireless for the computer like a laptop you just need to know your Network Name and your WEP key which you could find underneath your router. your network name by default should be 2WIREXXX where XXX is the last 3 digits of your serial number (S/N). your WEP key by default is the 10 digit key inside the brackets just below the barcode. if you're going wireless for a desktop computer you need to purchase a WIRELESS ADAPTER and configure the software of the adapter. call the manufacturer of the adapter for the steps of using their software. you just need to supply them the NETWORK NAME and WEP KEY

if you're going wireless for the ps3, you just need to SCAN for your NETWORK NAME and key in you WEP key and that should be it

Have SBCglobal with 2wire but want N wireless capability

Follow the dots -

2 wire DSL wire to back of DSL modem.

Ethernet cable out of DSL modem, to current router (if you have one).

Ethernet cable out of current router (if you have one) to new Wireless N router.

If you currently have a wireless G router, keep it, or, use the new Wireless G/N router alone. You will need to set up all security settings again if you remove your current router, and if the new router is N only, you will need to make sure all your wireless connecting computers have wireless N cards in them.

2wire 2700hg-b wired router wont allow setup of Linksys WAP54G access point

the ip address of the 2wire router might be different from the ip address being used by the wap54g (ip address is 192.168.1.245 by default) that's why it's not being detected.
you need to directly connect the wap54g to a computer and set the computer to use a static ip address (ex. 192.168.1.240) and run the cd that came with the wap54g. you need to set the ip address of the wap54g to the same segment being used by your router to make them see each other

hope this'll help you and just ask me if you have other concern

ciao!

Wiring up 2700hg-b wireless router

Hi, you will need a ethernet card in the pc to connect up a wireless router, most dont work with usb,
otherwise you would need a wireless adapter.
once you do get it connected, go into internet explorer and type in the ip adress for the router, will then come up with a menu for you to programme in your broadband details, once you get the router up and going, go into the PS3 settings, network settings, it will pick up the router all you need to do is enter the network key and its all go from there.,
ethernet card should cost you about £10 from any shop
Happy New Year

Ps3 issues

ok so for the ps3 you should select the option to scan for your wireless network instead of manually configuring it. if it asks for your wep key, you could find it under your modem. just look for the 10 digit key inside the brackets
