Hi Friend, As you need to upgrade the firmware for the router. Please follow the below link that will take you to the router's drivers page.
http://www.linksysbycisco.com/APAC/en/support/WRT54G/download
Please select the appropriate version from the list of the versions and as soon as you will select the version on the left hand corner slightly below the version number you will find the "firmware for your router"
Please let me know if it was of some help?
Thank you.

Upgrade my bandwidth coming into the house. Now I am getting dropped wirelessly and my ISP is saying that my router is the problem. Is there a firmware upgrade for the Wireless-G 2.4 broadband router?

Proceed to this website

http://homesupport.cisco.com/en-us/wireless/lbc/WRT54G

Click on the download tab.

In the drop-down menu you will have to provide your Hardware Version number. You find this on the bottom of the router under the model number. There is a blue hyperlink next to the dropdown menu that says Where's My Model Number, you can click on that for a better description of where you can find it.

Once you select your version, Firmware Upgrade Instructions and Firmware Upgrade download links will appear... assuming there are firmware upgrades for your specific version.

Read and follow the instructions and you should be good to go!

Keep in mind though, that routers do go bad occasionally and you may just need to buy a new one, hopefully that is not the case. The information you provided doesn't really make me believe your router is broken, but I thought I should throw that out there.

Hope this helps! If not, please comment back and let us know!

Hello, so i have Insight cable, Lynksys router, and it sees like the wireless connection is going down like an a three or four days or sometimes it happens like ever second day, so i gotta unplug it from...

I suggest that you check the Cisco/Linksys web site for a firmware update for your router.
Please be aware that there are many different versions of the WRT54G and you will want to choose the correct version from the router support web site.
From the above web site, click on the "Downloads" tab.
From the Downloads tab, click the "Where's my model number" link to figure out the hardware version of your router. Once you have figured out the hardware version, select it from the "Select Hardware Version" drop-down.
This will display links to firmware update files for your router.
Consult the User Guide (also on the download page) for specifics on how to update safely the firmware in your router.

My router reboots several times a day. Is this a known issue with this device when you have several devices connected over wired and the wireless? I have 1 PC wired. 3 PCs on wireless 1 Wii wireless 2...

Seems like this is a problem with this model, try the following: Upgrade the firmware of your router: ► you may find the exact model number and version number underneath the router itself on one of the stickers. If it's a WRT54G v5 upgrade the firmware, make sure the firmware version is 1.00.9 and above. To find the firmware version: ► open up internet explorer ► on the address bar type in the numbers 192.168.1.1 ( username just leave it blank, password as a default is admin) ► go to the status page: look for the firmware version To download the firmware: ► go to www.linksys.com/downloads ► search for your product model number and version the list ► click on downloads for this product ► firmware ► download firmware ► usually the file you download is a zip file so extract the contents 1st To upgrade the firmware: ► go back to the 192.168.1.1 page ► go to administration ► firmware upgrade ► browse for the files you extracted and use the file that ends with a us_code.bin ► and then just upgrade Then reset the router for 30 seconds and voila ur done with the upgrade! here is Linksys' 2nd level T/S phone# 18668705819 If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

Playstation 3 disconnecting from wireless gaming

Linksys loves to ship their routers with out-dated firmware. If you haven't updated the firmware of your router, that would be the first thing I'd do. From what I've read about routers and PS3, a lot of routers had trouble when they came out but had firmware updates to resolve the problem.

You'll need to go to the below link and select your version to get firmware downloads specific to your Model router and version number. The version number is listed on the bottom of your router next to the model.

http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT54GS/download

Be sure to read up on how to update the firmware and be sure you only update the firmware from a computer connected via WIRED connection to the router. Doing it wirelessly will cause disconnection from the router mid update and will cause your router to become a paper-weight!

The above link is a good website to find out a lot of information about Linksys routers and how to secure/update/configure them.

Linksys wireless-g wrt54g

Hi,

Chances are yes depending on the version that you have. This model has been in production for some time and variations has necessitated different Versions (mostly on the firmware).

The LinkSys page for various downloads (including latest firmware) is here. Again, you need to specify what version is your WRT54G.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards.

Thank you for using FixYa.

Green Power light flashing

Hi, Have you tried a hard reset? Your model has a small reset button at the rear between the Internet/WAN connection and one of the antennas (Press for 10 seconds +). Also flashing power led is an indicator of firmware problem which might have been caused by a failed firmware upgrade/update. Instruction on how to correct this problem is also included in the firmware upgrade/update. A more detailed instruction is in the User Manual. With regards to firmware update/upgrade , pls be reminded that firmware is very version specific. To locate the version number, you have to look underneath the unit and download the appropriate firmware from LinkSys website. (http://www.linksys.com/servlet/Satellite?c=L_CASupport_C2&childpagename=US%2FLayout&cid=1166859878881&packedargs=sku%3D1115416826220&pagename=Linksys%2FCommon%2FVisitorWrapper&lid=7888126220B03&displaypage=download) The download is a zip file which you have to extract to a folder. The .bin file plus instructions as well as specific instructions on how to make the power led stop flashing. Hope this works out for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.
