Just had this same issue repaired yesterday, the defrost element was out allowing the freezer to freeze up stopping the fan which moves the air and in turn causing the upper part of the frezzer to become warm and melt the ice. This is a common problem for the GE profile and I recommend finding a service company cheaper than GE and quit letting GE make more money off their CRAPPY appliances.
could have a problem with fill hose,if it has a **** going down the middle the water is spraying and overflowing out the ice maker,if that's ok check to see if there is an addjustment screw on the ice maker

GE profile, PSW23PSTASS, S/N VL416529, mother board P/N WR55X10156. The ice maker bin fills with ice, but later melts in the bin, drips down into the freezer and forms large icicles. Ice cream melting and re-freezing. Also, there is frost on the outside of some other items. AASC responded, suggested replacing #4 and #5 themistors - #5 does not exist at bottom of freezer as per AASC. Found 2nd thermistor behind coils at bottom of refrigerator side, by fruit bins. Replaced both #4 thermistors at top of freezer coil and 2nd thermistor referenced above. There was quite a bit of ice around refrigerator coil, especially near freezer pass thru. All seems to be working OK now, including ice maker. Will update in 2-3 weeks. Whats the deal with thermistor #5, should there really be one in freezer for my model?
