If your computer gives you an option of starting in safe mode, i will suggest that you start the computer in safe mode, copy all of the data you dont want to loose and backup it, then format your computer.

This might sound a bit overkill, but if there is a number of registry errors which windows pick up, it gives you an option to start in safe mode. There is a couple of virusses that does this exact thing. That is why i suggest that you backup your computer in safe mode, and format the computet to start a clean copy of windows. Remember to always keep your antivirus updated. Really hope this can help you.
