My 4400 lights up fine, I use it for one day, next day computer says it can't locate the 4400. It is stationary and does not get moved. I restart computer to hopefully restore the link electronically, no deal. Should I get this 4400 program off my machine and reinstall it?

An image was repeatedly scanned with the Canoscan 4000f and now is always there without it being on the glass plate. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the software. But to no avail. The image remains visible with every other image I scan.
