You can try the free KeyTweak program to remap the euro key or just plain disable it. To remap the key means changing the function, for example you could make the euro key into the Caps Lock key. DOWNLOAD:

+keyboard with Acer AspireE500-A970. How do I access the Euro symbol (lower case with Number 4) on the keyboard? Arthur

To type the Euro sign in Windows, you press the alt key+0128. As for the Sterling pound symbol, you can type it by pressing the alt key+0163. You can have a look at this site where it lists ways to type different currency symbols:

Please note that you have to type the 4-digit code on the numeric keypad (do not use the normal number keys) while holding down the Alt key.

Hope this helps.

The euro symbol is under the 5, how do i type this?

The keyboard shortcut for the € symbol is Alt Gr + 5. However if this does not work, you may also enter the following key combination : Alt+0128.

You have to maintain the Alt key pressed while entering the 0128 code.

Hope this helps you.

KEY BOARD NOT FUNCTIONING. absolutely new laptop

There may be a function on the keyboard to disable it. Look on keyboard and see if there is any function keys that has a keyboard on it. You may need to press the FN key and the other key with keyboard to enable and disable the feature.

Euro and Dollar keys: how do they work?

There are drivers at Acer's site you can download for the use of these keys. If the keys still don't work after the drivers are installed, you may not have the hardware to support them. It is common for Acer to use the same keyboard for different models. Different models not sharing the same hardware.

Acer Aspire 3000 keyboard failing

The problem is the battery as mentioned before. Disabling "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Battery Method" should solve the problem of the keybord and the mouse, this is, because the driver dosen't work properly with a bad battery. I think it fires a lot of hard interruptions that are blocking the keybord and the mouse interruption to the system (each time a key is pressed an interruption is send to the processor... if the battery driver sends a lot of interruptions, the key interruptions don't have time to be processed in time - that explains the fact that the system responds to a key press is that bad)
