Question about Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Fuzzy screen TV will only accept signals from my HD sat reciever, or upconverting DVD player. All other signals are fuzzy and unviewable. Even with signals that do work, the edge of the screen has horizontal spikes coming in from the outer edges of boths sides of the screen. In addition, the screen flickers, but is more noticable at different times.

Intermittant sound but the screen is fuzzy with a thick line running down the center of the screen. When playing dvd player picture is fine

this is a problem with the incoming signal of the TV. Check your antenna, set top box or the cable tv input. If the signal is OK then the tuner of the TV is spoilt

No owners manual can't get new blue ray dvd player to work on tv

Here is the manual:

When using the HDMI connections you may have to tell the DVD to output to that port.  Also you may have to connect additional sound cables from the DVD output to the TV.

The hyper module itself is not an expensive repair about $70 to $100.00 dollars. The tech will simply be replacing about a dozen 16v/10mf smd caps and re-installing it on the signal board. But that doesn't address what he has to do to get to it and get the hyper board off and back on the signal board and that is a bit time consuming.
What I would suggest is to call around to the various shops and ask what they charge for the hyper module repair and see if you can get an off the cuff estimate for around $250.00 dollars.
If you need help finding some reputable shops try for help in finding some of the best technicians available.

I don't know how to connect the cables from my VCR & DVD to the LG HD Plasma TV. "No Signal" appears on the screen when I try.

So, does it always say 'No Signal' or does it come up when you get it connected? If they are off when you are connecting them, that sounds okay; you'd get a signal when you turned the DVD player on (and told the TV to pay attention there.)

You might need to get an upconverting DVD or SVHS machine (since those are not normally HD) to get the TV to tolerate the signal, but the TV menus might let you activate that too. Why not look up the HD Plasma TV manual online according to the model number? If it turns out to be a monitor rather than a TV; of course, that is why it would not display those would need a separate tuner or signal selector box for that.

What's that bumpersticker abbreviation... ROFLMAORTFMYGDSOB? Good luck checking those out, since you get to decide which box renders the SD signal into HD....

Wrong aspect ratio!

It was the zoom !! I lost the tv remote, I went to Radio Shack for a Universal remote and they didn't have one with a Zoom button,
The tv menu doesn't have a Zoom button either...Finally found one that works and all is WELL! Depending on what the tv station transmits, the screen size changes in the auto-matic selection in the menu.
