Re: norton

Mcafee antivirus and friweall kinda does a lot of things to your comp when it is installed, its good security but i messes things up quuite a bit. what you need to do is after you unistall mcafee you got to clean up your registery, you can do this with tuneup utilities, after that you restart and install norton, then you got to configure norton for your internet etx. I personally dont use thenm as they are system intenstative, I woul recommend using avg free instead of norton and avg free anti spyware as well. BOT ARE FREE PROGRAMS

Norton help

Don't....I mean don't use Norton or McAfee at all. They are too invasive and do not actually help you with all Virus protection. Get Malwarebytes free from This is a Far better program and it is fully functional at all times. It updates often and protects you computer from invasions and people attempting to get into your computer.

Antivirus free download

There is no such thing. They don't work. Get norton or mcafee plus this does work but it takes both.

Alleged conflict mcafee w webroot spy sweeper

If spysweeper was installed then you should find it in "add remove programs" (XP) or "programs and features" (Vista) both can be found in the control panel.
When you open it look for webroot.
If it's not there type regedit in the search or run box, click on edit and select find, type webroot into the text box and search for any registry entry relating to spysweeper (webroot).
If your registry finds an entry click on find next and keep on doing this until the registry is cleared, then restart your PC and try and update Mcafee.
If you can't find any registry entry relating to webroot your PC maybe infected with spyware, malware or a virus. In that case i would perform a deep scan of the system whether your antivirus is updated or not.

Good luck and please post back if you need anymore help.

McAfee conflicting with Webroot

Run the free trial version, it should correct any errors in your registry, assuming that you uninstalled it correctly.

McAfee Systemguard

Have you tried running the Virtual Technician on McAfee's Website. If there are problems with the software it will usually find and fix it.

All honesty, next time try Norton 360, I have it on 9 computers and it give me no problems. Some are XP home, XP professional and Vista Home Premium. Norton 360 is a little pricey but it is great!

I found McAfee slows the computers down because the files are so big.
