My remote wont work

When I use my remote I get an RC1 error. The manual says that is because the remote and the dvd unit are on different channels. The manual says go into setup and adjust the channel. The problem is that to get into setup you have to use the remote to navigate. None of the remote buttons work. I just keep gettin the RC1 error. How can I get into the setup screen and fix the problem without using the remote.
